Max's Adventures: The Arctic Fox Siblings

Chapter 7: Tazer's Secret Plan

The team and the fox siblings carefully walked in the castle. The fox siblings and Max took the lead because of two things: one, the siblings had a strong sense of hearing and two, Max's lion crystal can sense danger. They were heading to the throne room.

"Um so who is the sorceress?" Spike asked curious. Tazer shook his head, frowning "Not much. We barely know her. Not even her name. She just showed up pretty quickly" the fox prince explained.

Tazer couldn't get his eyes off the the blue crystal. The fox was curious and intrigued to learn more about this magic mineral.

"So this lion crystal senses when danger's nearby. Any other powers it might have?" Tazer asked trying to hide his interest in it and staying calm.

"No that's the only power it has. But the other two crystals have different powers" Max told him and Tazer's ears perked up and his eyes widen.

"There's more of these?" He asked more interested and Leena, who was behind him, noticed it.

"Yes" Higgabottom answered. "There are three lion crystals. Sense, Strength and Courage. We need the crystals to defeat Shadow Master" Higga explained.

"And since they're called lion crystals, does that mean only lions can use it?" Zinti asked curiously as Tazer lifted her up on his back so she adjust her grasp around his neck.

"Professor?" Max asked his owl friend, also curious. "Well actually anyone can use the crystals but only individually. Only the true king of the lions can use all three crystals at once" Higgabottom explained. Tazer's eyes widen at the last sentence and he looked at Max.

"Wait. Max is the king?!" Tazer asked stunned and surprised. Max shrugged, smiling awkardly "Well I'm not king yet. But I am next in line for the throne" Max told him, rubbing the back of his mane and looking at the fox before looking away.

Tazer smirked to himself "Now I really need that crystal" he whispered to himself quietly but Leena got suspicious.

The friends continued in the castle, everyone staying alert, everything quiet. Zinti knew her brother's interest in the crystal but she didn't like the idea.

"Tazer. Are you really going to steal the crystal?" She whispered to him so the others wouldn't hear. Tazer looked at her "Yes. That crystal can save our kingdom. And bring dad back" Tazer assured her, placing his hand on hers.

Behind them, Leena heard the two whispering but couldn't make out what they were saying. She could only read their expressions. Zinti had a worried and unsure look while Tazer was serious yet also sneaky. Leena glared at the prince, having a feeling he was up to something.

"Wait!" Max whispered to them urgently, the blue crystal glowing. Everyone froze, Tazer placed his hand on his sword, ready for action while Spike and Twitch hid behind Kara.

They were at the corner of a wall and Max peeked behind it and saw some guards. Tazer took a look too "We need to get past the guards. They're blocking the way to the throne room" Tazer told them.

"Then we need a plan" Max said. Knowing Shadow Master was around, Max didn't want to risk losing the crystal so he slowly lowered his hand to his pocket.

But Leena noticed the white fox slowly extend his hand out, his palm and fingers opened to grab the crystal, his eyes focused the crystal. Zinti shook her head no at him and Leena's eyes widen.

"Max watch out!" Leena yelled out and Zinti, determined to try and stop her brother, unleashes her ice magic.

WHOOSH!

Zinti unleashed a icy blizzard that sent her, Max, Leena, Tazer and Higgabottom flying out into the open. The crystal fell out of Max's hand and fell on the floor.

Seeing the crystal and his chance, Tazer snatched it and quickly stood up and ran off to the throne room. "Tazer! Stop!" Zinti called out as her brother darted off but Tazer was already feeling bad that he failed to save their parents. 'I'm not gonna fail this time!' He said in his head as he kept running.

"Max! Tazer has the crystal!" Leena told him. "Stop! Intruders!" Everyone turned from the fox to the guards who had spotted them and was running towards them.

"By thunder!" Kara yelled as one guard was about to attack the professor. The elephant charged at the guard and bodyslammed him, pushing the guard back.

Max looked back and saw Tazer's tail disappear at a corner. He turned around and froze when a guard pointed his spear at him.

Twitch and Spike saw their best friend in danger. "Spike quick! Ball up!" Twitch told him and Spike rolled up into a ball. Twitch grabbed him and threw the spiky ball at the guard, shoving the guard away from the lion.

"Go after Tazer Max! We'll hold them off!" Kara told him and the lion nodded and ran after the fox.

Leena wanted to run after Max but someone grabbed her hand and stopped her. "Huh?" She said and looked to see it was Zinti.

"I know a shortcut to the throne room. Follow me" Zinti told her and ran with the lioness following her. Zinti made it to a wall and putting her paw on it, she revealed a secret switch and a secret door opened. The same one the siblings used to escape.

"Way to go Zinti" Leena complimented her, rubbing the fox's head and Zinti smiled at her and the two ran through the secret door to help their friend.
