Chapter 8: Tazer's Redemption

Tazer bursted into the throne room, the doors opened wide with a huge bang. He ran to the center of the room where the ice frozen fox king was still there.

Tazer stood facing his frozen face. The young fox had his ears down, breathing heavy. He sighed and his eyes closed in guilt. His eyes opened and he looked at the crystal in his hand, his reflection showing. "Hang in there dad. We'll be together again" he said determined, his hand clenching it.

"Roar!" Suddenly, Leena lunged at the fox, starting him. Tazer leapt back to avoid her attack but Leena's attempt wasn't a failure as the crystal fell out of his hand, clanging on the floor.

Tazer glared at the lioness, growling as Leena stood up glaring back at the fox. Zinti came out from a secret door behind the throne.

"That crystal belongs to Max you traitor!" Leena told him angry, pointing her finger at him. "You are not getting in my way" Tazer told her as he grabbed his sword, taking it out of the sheath.

"No one's getting in my way!" He yelled as he took the sword out and charged at Leena. The lioness leapt back as he slashed his sword at her. She quickly ran to a wall with the fox chasing her and she ran up the wall and backflipped over the fox who striked at her but got his sword stuck in the wall.

She landed on his back and jumped off him. Tazer struggled to get the sword out and frustrated, he left it their on the wall and ran after Leena.

He swung a fist at her but she blocked it and swung her leg at him and the fox ducked down to avoid it. Max ran into the throne room and saw the two fighting. Zinti spotted the crystal on the floor, its glow illuminating, sensing danger.

The pup ran over and grabbed the crystal. Leena threw her fist at Tazer but he grabbed her hand, pulling them both down to the ground and he pushed her over him.

"Leena!" Max said as he rushed over and caught her before she could hit the ground. Tazer quickly started looking for the crystal and his ears perked up when he saw his sister with it.

"Zinti! Give me the crystal" Tazer told her urgently, his hand out and open for the crystal. Max helped Leena stand up while Zinti looked at them and back to her brother. She looked at the crystal in her small paws and back to her brother.

"I'm sorry big brother" she said serious as the snow came up on her paws and levitated the crystal all the way towards the lion.

"What?! No!" Tazer yelled panic as he flunged his hands to try and catch it but the mineral floated high above his reach and floated down into Max's hand.

Max looked at Tazer. The fox glared at him "No! That crystal was my only chance to bring dad back and save our kingdom! No no no!" Tazer yelled, shaking his head and slamming his fists to the ground.

Max looked at the fox in sympathy. Zinti walked over to her brother and stood in front of him. "That will teach you a lesson theif" Leena told him him angry "Leena" Max told her calmly and set his hand on her shoulder and the lioness's face soften in confusion.

There was some sniffling and Tazer lifted his head up to his sister, his eyes watered and his ears down. "I'm sorry Zinti. I failed you. I failed to save our family and our kingdom" Tazer told her, his voice breaking as he wept.

"You didn't fail me big brother" Zinti told her brother and she hugged him "You saved me earlier. Mom and dad would've been happy" Zinti assured her brother and kissed his cheek.

Max walked up to Tazer and the fox looked at him. "Tazer. I can tell you had good intentions. You wanted to save your kingdom and your family. I know how you feel" Max told him. He understood why Tazer stole the crystal. It was to help save his kingdom.

"I lost my kingdom to Shadow Master. Along with my parents" Max said sadly, remembering that his parents sacrificed themselves to save their only child. "My parents gave up their lives to save me. And now I have to save my kingdom" Max explained to him as he lend out a hand.

Tazer stared at him surprised "And we will help you save your kingdom. And your family" Max promised him with a warm smile.

Tazer was surprised and he was amazed that even after betraying him and stealing the crystal, Max still wanted to him. The fox smiled at him and grabbed his hand and Max pulled him back up on his feet.

Zinti smiled to see her brother make the right choice but then she sense a chill in the air and she turned around and gasped "G-Guys!" She said alarmed and everyone turned their heads to her direction.

The sorceress had teleported into the throne room and everyone can feel the air in the room get cold.

"Max!" Higgabottom's voice yelled out and Max turned around to see Higga, Kara, Twitch and Spike running to them. The sorceress spotted them and lifted up her hands and threw them down and the door magically was shut, separating the group.

"By thunder!" Kara yelled surprised and banged on the door. "Max!" Twitch and Spike called out alarmed.

Back inside, Zinti quickly threw a ice wind at the sorceress, blowing her hood away. But when she turned her face to them, Tazer and Zinti's eyes bulged and gasped in shock as they both yelled "Mom?!"
