The days ticked by like minutes. The hours seemed like seconds and by the time I was finally back into my regular routine at school, it was Friday. Andrew stayed over all the time, with no supervision thanks to a nearby hotel for my mother. Alexis was coming in two weeks, but that wasn’t what had me grinning as I walked out to my bug.
I was grinning because it was Friday, and that meant that I could finally be alone with a girl friend, a real life mortal girl friend.
I didn’t have to think about or talk about crazy immortals or the supernatural with Julia. I could be normal, or, at least pretend to be for the next two days.
Andrew’s car was already parked in my driveway when I got home, which confused me.
I told him I had plans this weekend. I specifically remember catching him peeking over my shoulder while I made the arrangements.
“Andrew!” I shouted when I burst the door open “We have to talk!”
I heard a loud bellowing laugh coming from the living room. When I turned the corner, to my surprise, I found Andrew and Blake sitting in the living room, watching TV.
“What the…” I said through my shock.
I hadn’t seen or spoken to Blake since that day out in the clearing.
“Hey, Christy.” they said simultaneously, just to freak me out more, I guess.
Andrew strolled over and planted a gentle kiss on my lips, then he chuckled at my expression “Blake’s here for me. Now, I know you told me not to come with you on this trip, but with… her looking for you, I don’t think it’s safe. Neither does Blake.”
Blake grinned.
“So, you're just going to hold me captive here, then? And you asked Blake to help you?”
Blake dropped his grin “We’re not holding nobody anywhere. We’re going with you. Think of it as a… double date.” he smirked “I don’t really like Julia, but if it keeps you safe.”
“It’s not… ugh! It’s not a date! We’re going camping, you can’t double date when you camp. It’s just us girls.”
“It’s not just you two anymore.” Andrew said “Blake asked Julia out on a date for Saturday night, she turned him down telling him that she had other plans.”
“But she did say,” Blake added “that I was welcome to join you guys, as long as it’s not awkward for you. Which it isn’t, I can read your mind, remember? So, we are coming. I’ve been invited.”
I attempted to think about how I could play this, but dropped everything out of my mind as soon as I realized that Blake could hear any plan I was going to come up with.
“Damn.” I groaned as I walked down the hall.
“We’ll just let you get ready now, darling.” Andrew said uselessly.
I packed anything I thought I might need; toothbrush, socks, underwear, ext.
After I was done, I texted Alexis;
Hey, you should call me this weekend. I need to know exactly when you plan on moving in. there’s a lot of stuff happening right now, and I can’t take chances.
Then I texted Julia;
