Casey POV

The harsh wind whips my hair back and forth, getting in my face and blocking my view of the train tracks beyond the rock I am hiding behind.

I check my watch again, for probably the fiftieth time in the past ten minutes. "They're late." I mutter, glaring back over at the tracks. "Be patient." A British accented voice says beside me. I turn my scowl over to Newt. He is wearing a large gas tank looking thing on his back, while clutching a blow torch that is connected to it. So basically, he isn't going to be moving very fast when the time comes to run to the trains, but that's where I will come in, to cover him so he won't get shot.

"I don't know if you've noticed this, but patience isn't exactly my forte." I grumble. Newt makes an amused sound, but doesn't say anything. Instead, he reaches for my hand, and intertwines our fingers together. "We'll be fine, yeah?" He says to me reassuringly, giving me a half smile. "Yeah." I respond, looking deep into his warm brown eyes. I then remember what happened last night, and that brings on a whole other wave of anxiety.

Flashback

——-

I stare off into the distance, watching the sky grow darker, as stars begin to appear. Worries and anxiety tumble around in my head. "What if I die? What if he dies? What if I get hurt and I can't protect him? Then it would be my fault for his death."

I am then pulled out of the hurricane in my head by the sound of footsteps coming towards me. I turn around, and come face to face with Newt. He gives me a reassuring smile, as if he knows exactly what I'm thinking about.

"Are you okay?" He asks. I hesitate for a moment, then say. "I'm worried the plan isn't going to work." Newt nods slowly. "Yeah, I'm worried too. But we will get Minho back, that's all that matters." "Not to me. I'm more worried about you. I can't loose you." Out loud, I say. "I hope we get him back too, but I'm also worried about you." I look down at the ground. "I don't want you to get hurt, or worse." "Hey," Newt says quietly, putting one finger under my chin, and lifting it up so I'm forced to look at him. "I'll be alright. You're the one that's covering me, remember?" He grins, but a moment later his expression turned serious again. "I'm worried about you too. You're going to be more exposed than I am. Just promise me you'll be safe, okay love?"

I nod, feeling my heart explode slightly. I love it when he calls me 'love'. I feel my face heat up every time he does it, and I'm pretty sure he is very aware of that, which is why he keeps doing it.

"There's one other thing I want to talk to you about." Newt says hesitantly, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. I feel my stomach drop, millions of different possibilities of what he wants to talk about flashes through my head. "I want to tell you this, before we put our plan into action tomorrow, just in case." He takes a deep breath, and gently takes my hands in his. "Casey, I love you." Newt blurts.

I am overcome with emotion. Shock, surprise, happiness, delight. "I-I love you too Newt." I stutter, wide eyed. Newt grins widely at me. "Do you want to be my girlfriend?" He asks, hope flaring in his eyes. I grin back. "Absolutely." I say. "Can I kiss you?" He asks again. I nod. Both of us lean forward, pressing our lips together.

It is quite a lot like the first kiss we had, back in the abandoned mall, but this one is a lot more confident.

We finally pull back, both of us smiling like idiots. I just hope that wasn't the last time I would ever get to kiss Newt.

"It's coming!" Newt says suddenly, ripping me out of my daydream.

I look down the tracks. Newt is right. In the distance I see the train thundering its way towards us. The plan is in action.
