Casey POV

I whirl out of the room and race down the hall. I'm not even trying to be stealthy anymore. All that matters is saving Newt, even if it costs me my life.

I make it to a staircase and fling myself down it. I have no idea where it's leading me to, but it's going down, and that's the direction I need to go.

I am about two flights of stairs from the ground when I see ahead of me a wall of guards. Meaning that idea is out the window. Wait, out the window. I am struck with a brilliantly terrible idea. My only other option is to stop, and I'm not going to do that.

I abruptly turn to the window on my left hand side, and throw all my momentum forward. At the same time, the guards start firing at me.

I crash through the glass, and plummet to the ground below.

It's farther down than I originally anticipated, but I roll my body forward, and end up doing a somersault on the pavement. Ow. I don't have any time to recover though, I have to find Newt. Right now.

As I stand to run, I feel a searing pain in my side. I look down, and see a red splotch rapidly growing on the side of my shirt, near where I got shot a few months ago. This is a very similar pain though. In fact, it's worse. I know for a fact that I've been shot again, but this time, I think the bullet hit something important.

I can't worry about that right now though. I start to run as fast as I can, the adrenaline of finding my boyfriend overpowering the blazing pain in my side.

In the distance, I can see four figures moving from wall to wall. I can also see explosions and fire and death. A moment later, two of them run away in a different direction.

Against my better judgment, I put on a burst of speed, aiming for the people that just disappeared behind another wall.

I transition into a skid, like how I did when I was fighting grievers in the maze, except this time I don't almost fall to my death.

I come around the corner of the wall, and come face to face with Newt.

Joy overwhelms me, but that is soon replaced with horror.

Newt looks absolutely terrible. He's so pale, his skin is almost white. He has bloodshot eyes, and messy dull hair. His mouth is dripping with black blood that's slowly oozing down his chin and onto his neck. The thing that scares me the most, is his expression. His dead eyed look of blankness. For half a second, I think he is dead, until he turns his head towards me.

In his dark eyes I can see a spark of recognition and happiness.

     "Casey." He whispers.

I can barely hear him, but at least he still has the ability to speak.

"I'm here. I'm going to save you, okay?" I say, tears flooding my eyes.

"Casey? What are you doing here?" Thomas asks, staring at me in bewilderment.

"Oh, nice to see you too." I say breathlessly.

Now that I have stopped moving, the blood pouring out of my body is starting to take a toll on me. I can't die though, not yet.

I reach for the vial of blue liquid, and my knife. I then reach over to grab Thomas's hand.

"What are you-" Thomas starts, as I am about to slide my blade across his skin. "Ow!" He adds, as I cut him.

I don't have the energy to explain, so I just bring my blood coated knife over to the vial, and mix the blue liquid with the blood, making it turn purple. I then grab a syringe that Teresa gave me, and suck some of the liquid up with it. I then move back over to Newt, and gently grab onto his arm.
