Newt POV

The moment the train stops near the rock I am hiding behind, I spring up and clank my way over to the detached train carts. I hear Casey run behind me, and I feel relieved to know she's still here.

After last night, I have added a whole other layer of anxiety onto myself. I told myself not to do this. I warned myself to not fall in love. And what did I do? I bloody fell in love with a badass who does not care if she gets in danger! And, to top it all off, I asked her to be my girlfriend, and she said yes, and now I am even more worried about her well being.

"I should have waited until we made it to the safe haven. The only reason why I did it now is because I'm worried I might die today, then I would never get to tell her how I feel. Then again, I might die everyday, but today is extra dangerous, so that's why I did it last night, so that if I do die, then at least Casey knows. Although, what if she dies? No. I am not thinking about that. In fact, the only thing I should be thinking about is getting this bloody cart open."

I finally drag myself out of my worry filled mind, and make it to the train cart that I'm supposed to open. I put on my goggles that are around my neck, and begin to blow torch a hole in the side of the cart.

I go as fast as I can, still very aware that there are people fighting and shooting each other all around me, but all I care about is getting this bloody crate open, and making sure my girlfriend is still alive.

"Are you done yet?" Thomas asks, running towards me. "Don't rush me." I respond, keeping my focus on the sparking metal in front of me. Thomas moves away, taking Casey with him, which sends alarm and jealousy shooting through me.

It takes me a moment to realize that there are no more soldiers shooting at us currently, so I assumed that's why Casey left. Still, I want her back.

A moment later, Thomas and the rest of the group has all the clamps around the cart, just as I finish carving a hole in the metal.

I then feel a sudden breeze above me, and I look up to see a berg that we stole from WCKD fly above the cart.

"Newt, come on!" Casey calls to me from the ladder that is connected to the cart. She stretches her arm out to me. I run to her and grab onto her arm, letting her pulling me up.

Seconds later, I feel the cart start to move. It then slowly lifts off of the metal frame below it, and into the air.

I watch the ground as the berg carries us, and the cart full of WCKD prisoners, away into the sky. Finally, after six months of planning, we finally saved Minho.
