I woke up in a cold sweat, my body shooting from my hammock as sweat poured down my face as my heart thumped rapidly against my chest. I looked around my room, eyes darting rapidly as my eyes scanned the room through the darkness. I spotted the clock on the wall, reading 3am in red. I reached down to the bedside table and grabbed a pill bottle, opening it and popping a pill in my mouth. I placed the pill bottle back down and grabbed a water next to it and took gulp after gulp of it until the bottle was empty. I placed the empty bottle down and laid back down, staring up at the ceiling, waiting for the sandman to take me back to dreamland.
I woke up to a gentle knock on my door and carefully got out of my hammock to get ready for the day. I knocked on the door and listened as the footsteps walked away from my door. I walked over to my closet, picking out my hero outfit I wore for talk shows since I still liked it and seemed for fitting for the day. I grabbed the other items that made people recognize me and icons associated with the origins of my hero name and left my room, going into the bathroom as my roommate for the time being, Toshinori Yagi, left the bathroom.
I quickly washed up and got dressed, leaving the bathroom and heading into the kitchen as I unbraided my hair for the iconic waves seen with this outfit. Toshinori placed a glass in front of me, filled with water as he drunk coffee. "How does it feel to be back in your hero attire?" He asked as he leaned against the counter in a golden suit that hung off his body in his current form.
I hummed and nodded my head as I placed my golden wreath on my head, starting to drink from the glass of cool water as my wings slowly opened up. "It feels...nice actually, I guess." I said. "Are we walking, taking a train, or having me fly?"
Toshinori looked at my wings and then at the clock. "I guess flying."
I nodded my head and finished my glass as Toshinori put his cup in the sink, putting mine in the sink as well. I walked over to the front door and waited outside as Toshinori came out, locking the door.
By the time we reached the front gates of UA High, it was an hour before the gates would be opened for the students. Toshinori and I entered the building, walking casually through the empty halls with the sounds of my heels and Toshinori's dress shoes echoed through the halls. As we walked through the empty halls, my mind started going down memory lane as I started to remember my days as a UA High student.
I was quickly snapped out of memory lane upon stopping behind Toshinori as he opened the door to the teacher's lounge. Toshinori stepped inside first, being briefly greeted by the staff inside and I followed behind him, though my greeting by certain members was different.
"MY LITTLE BIRDE!" A woman in an R-rated hero costume cried, jumping onto me and hugging me. She continued to squeeze me tightly, not enough to shorten my breath or break any bones, but enough to mess up my feathers. "I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!" She cried before pulling away, smacking my head with a roll of paper. "WHY DIDN'T YOU ANSWER ANY OF MY CALLS OR TEXTS?!"
I laughed nervously and held out my hand, making her stop. "Sorry, Nemuri. I was busy."
Nemuri looked at me as her grip tightened on the roll. "FOR FOUR YEARS?!" She shouted before sighing. "I'll let it slide this time...but to make up for it you are with me, drinking and partying this weekend!" She grinned.
I sighed, hanging my head low. "If that what it takes for you to forgive me, sure." I agreed, making her squeal and hug me again.
I heard the door open behind me and turned my head to see a curved shaped blonde hair holding a potted plant with a mop of messy black hair behind him with a yellow sleeping bag under his arm. "I knew I was seeing a pair of familiar wings." The man with the blonde curved shaped hair grinned.
I smirked as I kept looking at his hair. "And I see you still haven't given up trying to a cockatoo." I joked.
He gasped dramatically, holding the plant against his chest. "I haven't heard from you in four years and I came bearing you a welcome gift and you insult me!" He cried, making the man behind him sigh.
"It's too early for this." He groaned. "Apologize so I can get inside and take a nap."
I rolled my eyes. "You're always taking a nap, Aizawa. It makes me question why you even took this job." I stated before turning to the blonde. "I'm sorry for insulting you and you're amazing hairstyle, Hizashi."
Hizashi grinned. "Well thank you. I accept your apology." He stated before handing me the plant. "It's a bonsai. Suppose to relieve stress or something like that."
I took it and stared at it. "Uh...thanks?" I went over to my desk and placed it there before sitting down in my chair, brushing my feathers with my fingers. As I brushed my feathers, I looked down at my file to see today's schedule and my basic job, which was patrol and being a substitute teacher for English and the hero course. "Why am I the substitute for English? I speak English naturally."
Hizashi leaned back in his chair. "I wish I could you wish with you, but I've been teaching it for years and think it's very effective."
I deadpanned as I looked at him. "Right..." I said before hearing the bell ring.
Neumi jumped up pointing towards the door. "All right everyone! It's showtime! Let's welcome these students with open arms!" She stated and we all nodded our heads, filling out of the office to go either to the classrooms or the auditorium.
By the time the orientation ceremony ended it was already sunset. I heard yelling and explosion north of the auditorium, where the training field was. I opened my wings and flapping them, flying towards the field.
I soared above the field and spotted Aizawa holding an ash blonde student back from a green haired student with his scarf as a large group of students watched. "Do you need some help there, Aizawa?!" I called.
Iwatched as the students looked up into the sky, spotting me and could hear themsquealing and chatting. I saw Aizawa look at me and if looks could kill, Isurely would be dead. As I saw that stare, I took that as my cue to leave. "Isee you got it under control! Bye Aizawa! Bye students!" I bid goodbye, flyinghome.
