Chapter 18: Regret

Ella never went back that night.

She wasn't ready to face Taehyung yet and she couldn't sleep anyway.

She had heard about the dangers of being alone in the city, especially during nighttime, but she couldn't care less.

She was distracted with her own worries.

Her mind in shambles upon hearing Taehyung's truth. He had made a mistake by forging that lie.

His intentions were clear, but they were wrong.

It got Ella thinking again.

Sue, the person he loved with all his heart, was no longer on this earth. Yes, their relationship would have strengthened if she was still here.

But that pain of being forcibly ripped apart by their love was unimaginable.

Yes, he had that security that she had loved him till her last breath. But he would never be able to see her ever. His longing for her would be infinite and there was nothing he could do to go against the laws of life.

Was she going to wait for Jimin to die for her to realize everything?

Did she have to wait for something extreme to knock some sense into her?

Was she going to wait till everything was too late?

Jimin had made his mistakes and she would never be sure if he ever truly was sorry.

But for the sake of her health, her mentality, she needed to learn to forgive people.

Maybe Jimin didn't deserve her forgiveness, but she couldn't go on like this.

She didn't hate him. She was forced to fall out of love with him

If she couldn't love the person and she couldn't hate the person, it was better to just let him go.

Rid of him guilt and rid herself of any regrets.

Her father used to tell her that regretting was a part of life.

No regrets. No life.

She used to believe him, but there were times when the decision was hers, whether to indulge in regret or not.

Her mind drifted to the time she had caught Jimin with the man on the street. They looked happy. He looked happy.

That was all what she ever wanted for him. Happiness.

Her fury and her jealousy blinded her from that thought for a while. Now she could start to see clearly.

Even if he had made a mistake, she had to be the bigger person. She was tired of playing tit for tat. She was tired of waiting for him when there was no use.

He was never coming back. She had to accept that.

She had to let go, no matter how painful it may be.

And for that, she needed to see him one last time.

No regrets. No life.

Maybe she'd be the one to change that.
