Chapter 7: Attached

"What do you have there?" Ella spoke as her eyes landed on the two tickets on the kitchen island.
"They're tickets to the football game. Hyungsoo and I are going tomorrow afternoon." Jimin answered.
His small fingers grabbed an onion as he attempted to chop it the right way.
Ella stood beside him as she stirred the soup in the pot, occasionally checking it's salinity.
Monday evening had struck its clock. The couple had decided on cooking instead of take out. The menu was prepared by Ella while Jimin stood by her, waiting for her instructions on what to do.
For now, he was told to chop an onion.
"I don't know how you can watch boys toss a ball around for hours. It's just so incredibly boring."
Jimin smiled, fully aware of his girlfriend's blatant dislike for sports. His smile dropped when he almost chopped off his finger.
"That's because you're not good at football."
Ella shook her head in denial. In the three years of their relationship, she had never once admitted her utter lack of skill in that department.
"I'm good at sports. What are you on about?"
"You can't throw a ball even if your life depended on it", Jimin snickered, finding pleasure in making fun of the girl. He heard her huff annoyedly. His smile only grew wider.
One point for Jimin.
"Sorry, love. I'm good at everything. What can I say?" he tried to press her buttons.
Ella scoffed.
"Says the person whose spent almost twenty minutes chopping half an onion. And may I add that you've almost cut your finger twice."
She heard nothing from him.
One point for Ella.
Their bickering continued on for the entire night. The noodles went on the plate, the soup poured into bowls and the veggies sorted on the dishes, but they still didn't shut up.
That was until Ella attempted to whisk the batter for their dessert. Jimin smiled out of mischief as he grabbed a handful of flour and slapped it on her cheek.
Ella didn't allow herself to linger in shock for too long. She grabbed some herself and dumped it on his head.
Soon enough, the entire kitchen was in a mess and the childish adults tried to throw anything they could find at each other.
Ella's feet slipped on some flour on the ground. Luckily Jimin was right on time to catch her. Her body fell on top of his as they stared at each other with goofy smiles.
Their faces moved closer on impulse. Their lips delicately placed themselves on each other.
The warm feeling, that sat in their hearts, engulfed them both. Butterflied erupted in Ella's stomach. She wished she could stay there forever.
She couldn't believe that she got to spend the rest of the evening with a man like him.
She had spent three years with him. She wanted to spend forever with him.

Two years ago
The day was coming to a close. Taehyung sat on his desk with his books scattered all around. He had somehow managed to fit the content of the textbook into his head. Just a few more pages and he would be done for the day.
That was when he heard keys rattling in the key hole. His face instantly brightened up.
Sue was home. His love was home.
He got up and made his way to the entrance. And there she stood.
Her long hair hid her face as she held her books against her chest. She had come back from her evening class.
Her face looked up to see her boyfriend eagerly waiting for her.
Taehyung watched her muster a smile for him, but he knew better than that. She had forced one out. Her face looked tired, her body seemed to almost break out of exhaustion.
What had made her so glum?
Sue was a naturally cheerful person. Her energy was what drew him to her. He lived off of her enthusiasm sometimes. It was too noticeable.
"You okay, Sue?"
The girl hesitated for a while before she answered, "Yeah, I'm fine. College has been really stressful."
Taehyung didn't believe her. Something was wrong. In fact, now that he thought about it, something had been wrong for a while now.
But he didn't pry her. She looked like she could need a hug.
"Come here", Taehyung said as he opened his arms for her. His heart unconsciously pained for her. Whatever that she was going through, he hoped she would get better soon. She could always rely on him.
Sue walked straight into his arms and wrapped her hands around his waist. She buried her face into his chest.
"Taehyung?" she mumbled groggily.
"Yes, love?"
"Can you promise something to me?"
"Of course."
"Try to not get too attached to me. It's going to end up hurting you."
He remained quiet. She was a bit late on that part. He was already in love with every fiber of her being. He couldn't stop feeling for her even if he tried to.
"That's impossible for me to do, Sue. I promise you that it won't hurt me and it won't hurt you."
The air remained still for the two.
"But it will", she spoke lightly. He almost didn't hear her.
But Taehyung chose to ignore it. Just like how he chose to ignore everything else.
