"So how long does this test take?" Sam asked, looking around Peter's lab at Oscorp.
"I'll draw some blood and I can give you the results in a couple of minutes," Peter said, adjusting his glasses. "Who wants to go first?"
My two brothers and sister looked at me.
I sighed and rolled my sleeve up, holding it out towards my husband.
Peter laughed. "Ok, then."
When he finished drawing blood, he grabbed a cotton ball and went to wipe the blood but there wasn't any.
"HF, babe."
"Yeah, yeah."
"What is HF?" Nessa asked.
"Healing factor," Peter told her.
I showed them my arm, seeing the tiny prick heal.
"Cool, can I have that?" Sam asked.
"If you have the gene, maybe we can find a way to trigger it," I told them.
A minute later, Peter looked in the microscope. "So, this might take a minute, it's a little hard to find it. You definitely do have powers from the bite, the mutation is everywhere. But that doesn't necessarily mean you don't have the gene." He looked at the lab assistant in the corner. "Would you mind getting a vial from them?"
She nodded.
I watched her get a vial from each of my siblings.
Peter looked up at the screen, turning it towards me. "Right there," He pointed at it, but I didn't really know what he was pointing at. "You have the x-gene, which most likely means your mom and you guys have it."
"Or my dad,"
"If Sam and I have it, that means mom had it," T.J. said.
Sam nodded. "Yeah, since we don't have the same dad as you guys."
"Is it dormant?" I asked him.
"Uh, yeah, but it looks like it can be triggered. Just need to find a way."
"My turn," Nessa said.
The lab assistant handed Peter the three vials.
He picked out Jennessa's and put a drop onto a slide and put it under the microscope.
A couple of minutes later, he showed us the screen.
"She has it, dormant."
Nessa smiled. "So, I'm a mutant?"
"Yep,"
Sam and T.J. looked at each other.
"If my daughter has the gene, that means I must have it, right?" T.J. asked Peter.
"Yeah, but I'm gonna check anyway."
Peter checked T.J.'s vial and check, and he had the gene too, along with Sam.
"I can see if I can make something that could activate the gene, but it could take a while," Peter said.
"You should talk to Bruce, he might be able to help you out," I told him.
"Oh, yeah, he knows a lot about genetics."
I laughed. "Yeah, definitely."
My siblings looked at me.
They didn't know Bruce, only that I worked with the Avengers, not specifically who they were.
"I don't even know if I want powers but I gotta go drop Rebecca off at work, so I'll see you later," Sam said.
