(A/N) It's my 18th b-day! Enjoy, don't forget to leave a like! <3

I looked down at my phone, seeing a text from Fiz saying that her test was positive.

Over the past week, my friends have gone to see Peter at Oscorp to get tested.

Josh, Emmy, and Lindsay were negative. So far, Fiz and Michael were the only ones with the gene. Ash, Luke, and Cal hadn't gotten tested yet.

I texted back congrats.

"You ok?" Tony asked.

"Yeah, my friend just tested positive for the X-Gene."

"You should let Bruce know so he can make more of the activator."

"He finished it already?"

"Almost, I think he just needs to get a blood sample from your friends to activate their specific gene."

"Peter probably has some left from the test."

I followed Tony out of his workshop and through the halls to Bruce's lab.

I sat on a stool across from his, watching him mix vials of fluids.

"Hey, Layn," Bruce said, pouring a blue fluid into a clear one.

"Hey. Another one of my friends tested positive. Think you got enough of the serum?"

"Should be, I have enough supplies to make more anyway. Yours is ready, by the way."

I smiled. "Great, can we do it now?"

"You don't wanna wait for Peter?" Tony asked.

"The serum will take a while to activate her powers anyway." Bruce picked up a syringe.

I rolled up my sleeve and watched Bruce clean a spot on my arm.

"How long will it take?"

"Anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days," Bruce said.

He pinched my arm as he injected the blue serum.

When he pulled the needle out, my body began to grow warmer. I closed my eyes as I got a headache.

"Or seconds. I'm not sure. I've never done this before."

"I think it may be seconds." I stood up and the pain in my head and the warmth faded.

"Elayna, do you feel ok?" Tony asked.

"Um, yeah. Why?" I opened my eyes and looked at him.

"You look a little pale, and your eyes..."

"What about my eyes?"

"They're glowing," Bruce said.

I picked up Bruce's tablet and looked at my reflection. My eyes were glowing white and kept getting brighter. I closed my eyes and opened them again, and the glowing stopped.

"Weird," I muttered to myself. "Um, I'll have the blood samples sent up here tomorrow."

"You sure you're ok, Layn?" Bruce asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"Ok... The serums should be ready by the end of the weekend."

I nodded. "I gotta head back, got training."

-5:23 pm

I kicked off my shoes as I locked the door behind me. "Peter?"

"Bathroom!" He called out.

"I got dinner."

He came out, adjusting his glasses. "I was taking my contacts out."

"I don't get why you wear them. You look cute with glasses." I set the bag on the counter.

"Haven't I been telling you that for 8 years?"

I rolled my eyes.

"How was training?"

"Same as always. Blast talking back, Walker trying to prove he's better than everyone. And Sweets being... well, sweet."

"You could've gotten worse students." He said as he began to sort through the bag of food.

"Yeah, I could've gotten someone like you."

Peter gasped. "I'm sweet!"

"When you want something."

He rolled his eyes.

- Middle Of The Night

I felt a sharp pain in my head as I sat up in bed, along with a ringing and whispering.

"It's like heaven!"

"Am I not wearing pants?"

"Yes, Mr. Hall."

"Oh my god, it's One Direction!"

Peter and I were the only ones in the apartment, and he was sleeping. I couldn't hear any noises from our upstairs neighbor so they probably weren't awake. Even with heightened senses, I wouldn't be able to hear anyone who was awake.

It must be a new power. Either I can hear people whispering from the other floors or buildings, or I can hear people's thoughts.
