How Do I Tell You I Love You? A LadyNoir fic

HeartBreak

Marinette POV 

Purple bubbles overtook Dawn. The form stood up, and the purple mess fell to reveal her akumatized form. Across her chest was a large broken heart. Her glasses had turned into a bright red mask. She smirked at me. "I guess you'll be the first victim of Heartbreak!" She pointed a giant white wand at my face as the tip began to glow a cobalt blue. I narrowly jumped out of the way of a blue beam coming at me.

"No thanks!" I yelled as I booked it into the bathroom and locked myself in a stall. I opened my bag and Tikki flew out, ready for battle. "Tikki! Spots On!"

Confidence washed over me as I donned the suit. I can't explain it but for some reason Ladybug felt like a less imperfect version of me. I felt, stronger. I took a flying leap over the stall door and set out to the courtyard. What I found was HawkMoth's newest villain shooting rays of different colors haphazardly at random people. Anytime a beam hit someone they had an outrageous emotional reaction. Some started crying, others screamed, and someone started whooping with joy. She was also screaming something about how "Chloe needed to face her." I swear that girl causes a new akuma every week. Speaking of frequent akumas, where was that cat? He's usually on the scene pretty quickly. As if my thoughts had summoned him, he leaped down by my side. 

"Well, well, well, M'lady. It seems you have been breaking hearts, as usual." There seemed to be an underlying sadness to his typical carefree tone. 

"Not me this time Kitten. This one was Chloe's doing. We need to stop her before this gets out of hand." I put a hand onto his shoulder as if asking, are you okay? He gave me a half-hearted smile, which I think was his attempt at reassuring me, but I still wonder...

"Cat... I-" My thought was cut of by a blast aimed at Cat Noir and I. We both leaped back. Suddenly we're both in battle mode. I just wanted to freeze time and help my partner, but I needed to focus. Come on! You'll defeat this akuma and figure it out with him, but you need to fix the here and now. "Cat Noir! We need to lead her away from the school!" He smirked at me. "Lead the way M'lady." I yoyoed a building about a block away from the school and flew through the air. In my peripheral vision I saw Cat Noir and HeartBreak close behind me. I landed on the building's rooftop.  Cat Noir landed beside me and said "I might as well be Dog Noir, because I always go roof!"

I winced. "Cat, even for you, that's bad."

"Yeah, I knew I was reaching once I said it." We both whipped around at a hard thud right behind us.

"What about, 'I'll be ceiling you later?'" HeartBreak pointed her big wand at the two of us. Cat Noir jumped, and seemed to appear right next to her. "A ceiling is when you're inside, but it's pretty good. " He tried to wrestle the wand out of her hands but she held firm and shoved him away. 

"How about this? I leave Chloe and your friends alone, and you two hand over your miraculous," She said, spinning her wand. I chuckled. "Really? You think you're in a position to make demands? We've defeated every villain HawkMoth has thrown at us. What makes you so different?"

"Because, I can use your own emotions against you!" She spun the wand in a wide arc, making a  wave of blue energy come at us. I ducked just as Cat Noir jumped. 

"Actually," Cat Noir corrected, "I think you're like, the fifth akuma that pits people's emotions against who they are. Like mind control."

"Heck, even mind control is more powerful than making someone sad." I agreed.

"Yeah, Chloe can do that without super powers." We both started giggling.

"Shut up!" With the tip of her wand glowing a deep green, HeartBreak began to swing wildly, like she was trying to hit us with the wand itself, not the magic. We dodged and kicked and grasped at the wand. 

"Why won't you just stay still?!" HeartBreak screamed.

"Well, in my defense, the only one allowed to pet this kitty is M'lady." He winked at me.

"Aw. Thanks kitten!" HeartBreak swung at me, and I tried to duck, but I was to late. She landed a solid hit to my head, and I blacked out.

My head ached when I came to. I looked around to see I was trapped in Theo's workshop. I remembered the events of the last few minutes. I started shaking, and I reached for my yoyo, but realized I was tied up with it. I yelled for Cat Noir, but then HeartBreak walk right in front of me and knelt down to meet my eyes.

"Huh. Maybe now I am in the position to make demands." She stood, and lifted my chin with her wand. "Your boyfriend will be getting tired for looking for you soon. You will tell me who he is so I can take his miraculous without any cataclysmic interferance." I scoffed. "What makes you think I will tell you?" 

HeartBreak smirked. "Because I have the power to reveal your identity to the world." She brought her hand down to my ear and brushed her fingers along my earring. "If you don't tell me how to find him, I will reveal your identity to all of Paris." All of the air left my lungs.

"No! Wait! Please! I don't know who he actually is!" 

"You're telling me that you've been partners for well over a year, and you still don't know who he is? How stupid do you think I am?" She reached for the yoyo as I screamed. 'I swear I don't know. I told him we shouldn't to protect each other. I'd tell you if I knew!" Tears were streaming down my face as she began pulling me towards the door. Suddenly, one of the windows shattered as a staff went straight through. On the other side of that staff was my Cat Noir. 

"Take your hands off My Lady." HeartBreak let go of my restraints and lifted her wand. "You still may be superpowered, but this'll do." Cat Noir swung his staff and fought with a ferocity that I had never seen from him. Clearly HeartBreak had underestimated him, as she was only on the offensive, never really landing a blow of her own. She wasn't even using her magic, just blocking his staff with her wand. She was clearly losing this fight, so when she saw an opening she sprinted through the door. 

"She's getting away!" I yelled, but he didn't even seem to notice. He turned on his heal and ran over to me. He immediately set to work on untying me. "I'm so sorry." I cried. After he had finished untying me, he just held me. "It's okay," He whispered into my neck. I began to cry again, and he just held me gently against his chest, stroking my hair and saying "It's okay My Lady. I'm right here."
