Melanie POV

After hours of scouring online message boards I was certain I'd figured it out. For the past two nights Cat Noir and Ladybug had been seen on one rooftop in town. I bet they're planning something. If I can just talk to Cat Noir I can convince him that I'm the one. After all, Ladybug has made it clear that she doesn't like him, and he's just so clever and sweet. I could show him that Ladybug just isn't the one for him.

I put my cat ears on over my dark curly hair and set out on my mission. The sun was just beginning to set. Great. I thought. Perfect romantic lighting.

I thought back to when I had first met Cat Noir. He had saved me from Gamer. He didn't say anything to me, but he didn't have to. I felt how good he was in my soul. He had a loving heart and I was immediately smitten. After that day I had actively searched for akuma attacks just to get closer to him. So far I've been saved twelve times. Once he even spoke to me. He told me to "Get out of here! Run!" I know he doesn't know me, but I think this time will work. There's no immediate danger, so I can just talk to him.

I finally reached the spot where Cat Noir had been seen. He was sitting on the roof on a cushion looking off into the distance. Yes! I was right! Just as I was about to call out to him, I noticed what he was looking at. Ugh, Ladybug. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Ladybug. I just think she's overrated. Plus, she's always turning down Cat Noir and letting her take the beatings for her. It's not my fault Cat Noir is just better. I decided to wait out Ladybug's arrival. She'd leave eventually, then I could get back to winning over Cat Noir. I rolled my eyes as he spun and dipped her in his arms. After we get together he's going to have to stop flirting with her. I looked up to feminine laugh. She poked his nose and giggled again. That's weird. She never flirts with him.

I watched in horror as Ladybug's arms snaked around his neck and began to kiss him. What? But, Ladybug doesn't like him! This can't be happening! I ran off with tears in my eyes. I found an alleyway to sit and cry. I can't believe this. I was so busy crying I didn't even notice the black butterfly absorb itself into my cat ears.

A gravelly voice began to speak. "BreakDown. I can give you the abilities of Ladybug to win over your love. All-"

"Yeah, yeah. You want the Miraculous. Whatever."

"Good." The deep black foam overtook my body.
