Adrien POV

I was antsy all throughout the day. My feet were tapping constantly, and it felt like I was going to chew my nails right off. I turned to my friends to try and get my mind off of the stress.

"Hey Marinette."

"Huh? Oh. Hey Adrien." She looked just as anxious as me. She was tapping her pen against her head and bouncing her leg.

"Girl, what are you tapping everything for? Are you worried about something?" Alya  asked.

"Oh, no. It's just that Jagged Stone's new album came out last week, but I haven't been able to check it out until tonight. I'm just so anxious to hear it."

"What about you, dude? Why are you so twitchy?" Nino turned and asked.

"I think I'm really close to finishing Ultimate Mecha Strike III: Story Mode. I just can't wait to get home and play."

We continued to talk about music and video games for a bit, but then the bell to start class rang. Minutes ticked by like hours, but eventually, I made it through school. I ran to the car and tapped my fingers the entire way home. I sprinted through the front door and up the stairs. My bag flopped onto my bed, and I leaped onto the couch.

"Ouch!"

"Oh, sorry Plagg."

"It's alright kid." He says that, but I can hear him grumble behind me.

"Want to help me plan what I'm going to say to Ladybug?"

"I dunno kid. I'm not really good with 'feelings' stuff."

"There may be some camembert in it for you."

"Deal!"

By the time night fell, I had felt comfortable with what I was going to say. That didn't mean I felt confident. My veins felt like they had turned to ice, and my stomach was tossing and turning. Sooner or later, I'm going to face the fact that Ladybug doesn't feel the same way. It felt like I was teetering on the edge of change. I just worried that our relationship will never be the same, but there's nothing I can do about it.

"Plagg, let's go."

"It'll be okay kid. " He patted my shoulder. "You'll get through this."

"Thanks. Claws Out." I jumped out of the window and climbed onto the rooftop. My eyes glanced over the lights of Paris. I took a deep breath, enjoying a short moment of peace before the storm. I ran across the rooftops, bathed in golden light. As I approached the meeting spot, I noticed it was surrounded by candles. I stepped closer, and saw Ladybug sitting facing away from me.

"Hey, M'lady." She turned to face me, giving a soft smile, lit by candle light.

"Hey Kitten."

I gestured to everything. "What's all this?"

"I felt bad for missing our date, so I set it up for you." My heart pounded loudly in my chest.

"Aw. Bugaboo! You didn't have to do that! Don't we need to patrol?"

She shrugged. "The people of Paris will be fine." As she stepped closer to me, she reached out to hand me a bright red rose. "I just wanted to spend some time with you."

I stumbled back. "Ladybug, we need to talk. This is just so confusing, and I don't know what you want from me."

She nodded. "I'm sorry." So then I told her everything. I talked about how I still loved her, even though she loved another boy. I was sorry about saying I loved her, even though I knew she didn't fell the same. Then, I dropped the bombshell, telling her about what HeartBreak had said about her true feelings.

"I'm just so confused, and I need you to tell me how you really feel."

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have told you that I liked someone else." Seriously? That's what she's apologizing for?

"Why? So that you could keep using me?!" I stepped back in disgust.

"No! No! That's not what I meant! I'm sorry! I never wanted to hurt you!"

"Then what did you mean?!"

"I meant that I shouldn't have told you that I liked someone else to keep you at a distance."

I paused, my anger dissipating. "What?"

"I was scared, so I relied on a crush, so that I wouldn't have to face the facts." She stepped closer to me.

"What facts?" I whispered as I closed the gap.

"You're really gonna make me say it, aren't you?" She chuckled.

I leaned down. "Of course Bugaboo."

"I couldn't face the fact that I love you." Fireworks exploded in my chest.

"Really?" I couldn't believe my ears. Am I dreaming?

"Oh my gosh, just stop talking." She grabbed my face in her hands and kissed me. I wrapped my arms around her waist, pulling her even closer.

"You have no clue how long I've wanted to do that." I whispered against her lips.

She giggled. "I think I have a clue." Her arms wrapped around my neck. After a while we found ourselves lying down, staring up at the stars.

Ladybug's head was resting on my chest, and she looked up at me. "Remember how you said you'd love me, with or without the mask?"

"Of course, Bugaboo."

"Well, I want you to know who I am, but it's to dangerous with HawkMoth and his akumas."

I stroked her hair. "Then let's stop him." I mumbled.

"What?"

"Let's stop HawkMoth. Then it'll be safe enough for us to be together."

She laughed. "How do you propose we do that?"

"I don't know. Let's not worry about that now."

"Okay."

Sadly, our "patrol" had to end. Ladybug stood up first. "I'm sorry Cat Noir, but I have to go."

I stood up to wrap my arms around her waist. "I'm scared if you leave I'll wake up, and it was all just a dream."

She looked at me and stroked my cheek. "Oh, Kitten. I swear, it's real. I'll still love you tomorrow and for the rest of time."

I kissed her cheek and whispered, "Don't make promises you can't keep."

"This is a promise I plan on keeping." She winked at me. "Goodnight, Kitty."

"Goodnight M'lady." We hesitated, just for a moment, before running off. I reached my house and jumped through the window again.

"Claws In!" Plagg flew out from my ring.

"Wow kid. That went well."

"Well? That went better than any of my wildest dreams!"

"And I'm happy for you, but it's late. You should get to bed." Plagg and I crawled into bed, and all night I dreamed of candles, and kisses, and Ladybug's loving eyes.
