the one you wish to see is not me

"okay but why won't you have interviews though?" shinobu asks while taking a sip from a teacup yushiro prepared.

"i can't go out in the sun."

"like a vampire? seriously?" shinobu replies, surprised.

"....." yushiro just turns around and stares at shinibu, obviously annoyed.

"what do you do back then?? before this whole painting thing?"

"me and lady tamayo-sama make experimental potions for demons to turn them back into human."

"you were also helping us with it too." yushiro continued.

yushiro-san remembers me! how sweet of you!

shinobu just ignores the voice.

"i see..." her voice trails off as she thinks.

"you guys need to go. it's late already."

"but-"

"you can come here again if you want." yushiro interrupts.

shinobu brightens up.

"THANK YOU YAY!" shinobu jumps at him for a hug.

" no promises." yushiro dodges it, causing shinobu to hug air as she pouts.

silence.

it was so deafening as giyuu and shinobu walks back down the dark alley. both deep in their own thoughts.

"ne, tomioka-san." shinobu stared down at the floor as she pulls his shirt.

"...yes?"

"do you...want her back?" shinobu stops walkinf as she speaks, stopping him at the same time.

giyuu looks at shinobu confused. a part of him knows what she's talking about, but the way she phrased it seemed rather conplicated.

"you know, these past few months...i..." shinobu couldn't find the right word to say.

"no it's just...i just wanna make it clear to you." she suddenly looks up to him with a serious look on her face.

"i'm not her. and i will never be. so if you're sticking along with me just because i look like her, leave. don't get my hopes up."

shinobu gulps as she speaks. she was gulping hard to prevent tears coming out.

she's been avoiding the topic for such a long time. deep down she knew, she knew that the person he was looking for in her was that voice, that tiny voice that sometimes pops in her mind. and she doesn't even know if the voice was her memories or another person.

don't get her wrong. she loves spending time with him. he's quiet and respectful, so she feels comfortable around him. but she still can never get the feeling off her chest that this luxurious treatment might just go away once he can't bring back that 'shinobu kochou'.

but she was selfish. if anything, she enjoyed the attention, and decided to never bring the topic up.

but again, she was tired. she felt like she was treated specially just because she looks like her. she didn't want that. a part of her hopes that giyuu would continue to treat her the same, even after realising she could never 'remember' or 'bring back' the person he wishes to see.
