All praises to Allah the Lord of the worlds. May he send Salam upon our beloved prophet Muhammad(saw) and his family.. Aameen
Despite their poverty they were a generous family. They used to give whatever that came home.
وَيُطۡعِمُوۡنَ الطَّعَامَ عَلٰى حُبِّهٖ مِسۡكِيۡنًا وَّيَتِيۡمًا وَّاَسِيۡرًا
اِنَّمَا نُطۡعِمُكُمۡ لِـوَجۡهِ اللّٰهِ لَا نُرِيۡدُ مِنۡكُمۡ جَزَآءً وَّلَا شُكُوۡرًا
" They give their food despite of Love for it, to the needy, Orphans, captives, and they only feed you for the pleasure of Allah, we wish not you from reward or gratitude."[surah Al-insaan 8-9]
Many scholars said that these was on the night when Ali(Ra) and Fatima(Ra) despite their Starving, Hardship that they only had a loaf of bread, some water in home and they gave it away to the poor family that came to ask them. So Allah related these ayah for that.
Imam Shafi' was used to refer in some of his poetry that, Ali and Fatima, The one who Siratul Insaan revealed for.
May Allah forgive us. May Allah make us amongst those who only give in the cause of Allah for his only pleasure.. Aameen
