(Sage's POV)

The taxi stopped in front of the house that was build on acres of land. I remembered long ago when Aiden was known to me as Josh. Me and him were together and this was where he had proposed to me.

"Thank you." I say to the driver and paid him.

I took a deep breath. The house looked empty with no sign of Aiden or Evander. Maybe this was the wrong place?

"Only one way to find out." I huffed, walking cautiously up to the big oak doors. I turned the knob and was surprised to find it open.

I walked in and gasped, the house was exactly the same. Like it had never been touched, not a single dust particle was lying around. Nothing was covered in sheets or plastic.

It looked like someone actually lived here.

I heard footsteps coming down the hall and I quickly grabbed a ceramic lamp that was beside me. I hugged my back to the wall beside the hallway and waited. Once the head of the person appeared, I smacked it with the lamp with all my strength.

It made the loudest noise when it impacted Aiden's head. The lamp shattered to the floor and Aiden was knocked out, but I knew it was only temporarily.

I ran to hide and found myself locked in a closet. Not the most intelligent place to hide, I know, but I was panicking.

I should've stayed at the hotel room.

I backed away to a corner and wrapped my arms around my knees, hoping he wouldn't find me. I then heard footsteps and the light casted shadows through the crack at the bottom of the door, I could make out the feet. He stopped right in front of the door and the knob started to shake violently.

I bit my lips so hard it was bleeding a steady flow. I cried as the door creaked open and would've shrieked if the person hadn't covered my mouth.

"Shh, Sage, shh. It's me." Evander whispered and I finally saw who it was clearly.

But I was still wheezing and hyperventilating.

"It's okay, shh. I'm sorry that I scared you." Evander pulled me into his arms, hugging me tightly as I cried into his chest.

"You scared me to death." I say shakily, my voice hitching. My chest moving up and down at a speed I didn't know it could.

"Breathe... What the hell are you doing here?" Evander says, taking my face in his hands.

"I--I could--couldn't leave you alone. You need help." I stuttered.

"Damn it, you're going to get us both killed!" Evander cursed and I started to cry again. "Oh, no, please stop."

"I'm scared." I say.

"As long as I'm here nothing will happen to you." Evander promised and as always I felt instantly calmer.

Evander took my hand and pulled me to my feet. He opened the door slightly and peeked outside. He nodded and we walked quickly upstairs and to the master room.

"Hide. He'll be here any second." Evander pushed my head down, forcing me to crouch and crawl under the bed. "Stay quiet."

I could only see Evan's black converse that matched mine at the end of the bed. I also heard the click of a gun putting a bullet into its place.

A second later the door slammed open and I flinched.

"Where is she?" Aiden snarled in his murderous voice that used to haunt my nightmares for years.

"Who?" Evander says.

"Don't play stupid. I saw her before she hit me with that lamp." Aiden stepped closer to Evander.
