Sage's POV

I sat bolt upright in the bed, but immediately regretted it. My head did a 360 and I rubbed my temples hard. Each time I did I felt a prick at the back of my left hand.

I looked down at my hand and saw an IV attached to it. It then everything that happened came flooding to my head. I tried pulling at the needle because it was annoying me, but I was startled when a voice spoke.

"You're going to hurt yourself even more."

My head snapped in the direction of the voice and saw Casper sitting on a recliner in the corner of the room. He looked paler than ever and had bags under his eyes. I was surprised he didn't have anything electronic on him.

"Where are we?" I say hoarsely, looking out the window and saw that it was snowing.

"Denver." He says, coming over to sit on the corner of the bed.

"What? Was I in a comma?" I say after clearing my throat.

"Kind of. We kept you on a sedative the whole ride here, I didn't want you to feel pain until we got here... Give me your hand, I hated that thing since the second they put it." Casper says, taking my hand and pulling out the IV gently. "So the doctor cleaned you up and stitched up the wound correctly. You're still on antibiotics, but most of the infection is gone."

"I feel better. Ugh, I can't be in a bed anymore. May I stand?" I say, throwing my legs over the bed.

"Oh, yep, let me help you." Casper gets up, taking my arms and pulling me to my feet.

"Thanks." I say and try to take a step, but I ended up tripping and Casper caught me on his chest.

Our faces were closer than ever before. I don't know why I couldn't move. Maybe it was the fact that my head was spinning from all the medication.

Casper stared at me with his blue silvery eyes and he pressed his cool forehead to mine. It felt extremely nice, like an ice pack on my feverish head so I stayed still. He leaned in closer until his lips touched mine.

I expected a passionate kiss that took my breath away, but all he did was peck them and the tip of my nose as light as a feather.

He let me go and I started to rub my lips that stung from the kiss. I also had a feeling inside me that gave me goosebumps.

"What was that for?" I breathed.

"I'm sorry. It won't happen again." Casper sighed and went to look outside the window.

"Are you regretting loving someone?" I asked his back and he turned his head to look at me curiously.

"Who said that I loved you?" He raised an eyebrow at me.

"I know it. When you kissed me I felt the same way as when Ian kissed me. My heart races and I get goosebumps. I know it sounds stupid but--"

"No, no I understand you." Casper smiled, "I said sorry because you have a husband and Aiden would kill us both if he found out."

"And you watching me sleep like a stalker gave it away too." I smirked and pointed at his red, tired eyes.

He frowned, "I did not. I was making sure that IV didn't break or something and that you didn't start bleeding--"

"Just admit you were worried." I cut him off.

Casper hung his head, "I was worried."

"I'm hungry." I say just as my stomach growled.

"Right. I'll go get you something." Casper says.

"May I come?" I asked.

"Everyone's here in this tiny apartment just so you know." He warns and I shrugged.
