Kevin's POV:Leo was getting married.
The news struck my heart like a wave of tsunami that left me gasping in shock and pain. I couldn't believe it, I didn't want to believe it. Leo was getting married. He had moved on. He was over me. Of course I couldn't blame him for it.
I gulped down all my rising emotions and smiled. It hurt.
"That's - That's fantastic!", I exclaimed as enthusiastically as I could, "Wow! Congratulations! I'm so happy for you! I mean - this is so great! It's awesome! When's the wedding?"
"It's after five days."
"That's wonderful! Look at you Leo, all grown up and ready to marry! Who would have ever thought?"
"Yeah. I can't believe I'm getting married."
I smiled but even a blind man could see that it was forced. The pain in my chest was becoming difficult to endure. I didn't want to pretend that I was happy.
"Hey honey! Who's this guy?"
A handsome young man emerged from the house. He had blond hair and twinkling blue eyes and he was definitely attractive. He approached us with a happy grin.
"This is my...friend - Kevin", Leo mumbled, "And Kevin, meet my fiancé Paul."
"Hey man!", Paul extended his hand to shake mine. "You here for our wedding, eh?"
"Errr...yeah. I just arrived here", I replied.
"That's great! I want to meet all of Leo's friends! We'll have a hell lot of fun! You are staying here at least till our wedding, right?"
Leo and I looked at each other. "I....I was actually thinking of living in a hotel", I said.
"Nonsense! ", Paul scoffed. "We have an empty guest room here. You can live here with us!" He looked at Leo and Leo muttered, "Sure."
"That's great! Oh, here's the florist. Excuse me", Paul said and went away. Leo cleared his throat and spoke, "Let me take you to the guest room."
"Okay."
Leo's POV:
He was back.
Kevin was back.
And I didn't know what to do.
After coming into my life like a tornado and then leaving behind a mess, he had come back once again. Why? Why did he return? To wreck my life again? To hurt me again?
I tried, I really tried, but I couldn't stop the memories from resurfacing in my mind. I had painfully locked them away deep in my heart all these years, but now Kevin's memories were flooding my mind rapidly.
Our dates, our chats, our kiss, our love...the memories kept running through my head and it seemed as if I was watching a film. And these reawakened memories made me realise that maybe, just maybe, my feelings for Kevin had not completely faded away.
I rushed into my room and locked the door so that no one could come in. Everybody was busy with the wedding decorations. I quietly approached my chest of drawers and opened the drawer at the bottom.
There, lying alone and neglected, stood the velvet box. The same velvet box that Kevin had left behind while he had been arrested all those years ago. And inside the velvet box was the silver ring, still shining as bright as it did during that fateful night.
Have a great year ahead! :)
