Zak's POV

I try calling Shawn a few times, but there was never an answer. She always answers her phone so it made me a little worried. I had read her text saying she was going back to my house, but now I have no way of getting there since she took my car. I was just glad that Kelsey and Jay were still here so they could take me home.

After I get dropped off I walk inside to the living room and see Gracie at the stop of the dungeon steps whining with her ears pinned back. "Grace? What's the matter, girl?" I notice the dungeon door was still open and instantly get a bad feeling that something had happened to Shawn. "Stay here, girl." I rush down the steps and find Shawn lying motionless in the middle of the dungeon floor. "Oh my god, Shawn!" I hurry to her and kneel by her side. Only then do I notice the spots of blood on her hand and scattered on the floor. "What the hell?" Tears well up in my eyes. "What did you do?!" I yell at the spirits I can feel surrounding me. "Shawn!" I carefully roll her onto my lap and listen for a heartbeat. It's faint, but it's there. "Please wake up, please wake up. You're not dead!" I carry her upstairs and lay her on the couch. Gracie follows closely behind me making sure she's okay. I clean up her mouth and her hand with a damp wash cloth and just hope she'll wake up soon. I'm in a panick watching her lifeless body. Do I call someone? I should take her to the hospital.

Just as I bend down to pick her up she stirs. "Thank God!" I can't help but wonder what the hell happened to her down there.

"Mmmm."

"Baby, it's me," I whisper.

"What the hell happened?" She asks straining to open her eyes.

"I found you passed out in the dungeon." I stroke her  hair as she tries to sit up.

"Shit," she mutters.

"Oh, no you don't. Lay back down." I gently push her shoulder back down to the couch but she fights back.

"Zak, I'm fine."

"No, you're not! Lay down!" I yell, crying. She looks at me scared that I had raised my voice. "I'm sorry, but you're not. Shawn, I found blood."

"Fuck," she sighs.

"Why do you make it seem like this has happened before? What are you not telling me?" I beg of her.

"Really, Zak. Please just forget about it. I'm okay now," she assures me, but I don't buy it.

"Whatever." I wipe my tears away and strut to the kitchen pissed. I knew she was hiding something, but I had no idea what.

"Look, you can be pissed at me all you want!" She yells to me.

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" I yell back as I make heavy footsteps on the hardwood floor going back to where she still sits on the couch. "I thought you were dead down there! Do you realize how scared I was?!"

"Yes, and I'm sorry!" She yells again and rests her head on the back of the couch. She takes a deep breathe and gathers herself before attempting to stand. I catch her as she wobbles a little before finding her balance.

"I just want to know what the hell happened?" I ask bringing my composure back.

"I can't explain it, okay? I just passed out."

Shawn's POV

Zak's face says everything. He knows I'm lying, but doesn't say anything more about it. I hope that since I passed out in the dungeon it would look like something happened from down there, but Zak was very good at knowing when something was wrong and he wasn't going to stop asking until he knew the truth. I felt bad lying to him, but I couldn't tell him. At least not now. There has to be a better way to tell him and I was going to wait until that moment because this was not it.
