"Going Under" By Evanescence

Eleven+

It’s sad but true thing to say that just because you are not aware of it, the world does go on without you. This is true no matter if you’re lying in a pool of your blood in your Uncle’s kitchen or not. Wyatt watches the skin of my back pulsate as the tearing of my skin drowns my nearly soundless screams.

“No…that…she can’t…” Lila says in shock from somewhere in the kitchen.

“What?” Wyatt snaps at her. “She can’t what?”

My final scream cuts off her answer and blood begins pouring out of my body as large black inky ribbons erupt from my back. Eight in total spring out of me like spider’s legs and making Wyatt scramble back farther. None of them have seen something like this and it would be safe to bet they will never see it again.

I lift my head and meet Wyatt’s eyes with my still blacked out pair but they seem sightless. He tries to get to me but Gideon and Orin hold him back from interfering. They know well enough to keep him away from a demonic power as consuming as the one eating away at me.

“Let me go!” Wyatt yells, trying to get away from them but its to no avail. While he is an angel, he is only a quarter. Gideon being half demon and Orin full-blooded vampire, he has no chance. Of course by this point I’m already beyond the world of caring as I pass out against the tiled floor.

The inky ribbons come around my body and slowly lift me off the ground before wrapping themselves around me. I am now tucked in a cocoon of demonic power. The black inky mass that my body is now wrapped in, crawl up one of the walls into a corner and sticks itself there like a cobweb.

The aftermath of it all is bloodied and horrific in the purest of ways. Blood colored the far wall, the floor and some spattering against the cupboards and ceiling. All are stuck in moments of shock, as their eyes stay glued to the mass in the upper corner of the room. Wyatt finally takes this opportunity to get loose and scrambles to get to me but this time its Sasha who grabs him.

“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

“Maggie is in that thing, you realize that don’t you?” Wyatt snaps at him. “Do you even realize what could happen if she’s in there too long?”

“No I don’t.” Sasha answers in his own terse tone. “I don’t know what will happen but I do know that if you touch it, it could attack you as well. I know you care for her but that doesn’t allow you to be foolish.”

“Then what do we do?” Wyatt asks quietly, staring miserably at the corner.

“We wait.” Tallulah says calmly.

Everyone turns to her and her bright green eyes scan everyone’s faces. Eventually it’s Gideon who questions her. “Just wait?”

Rolling her eyes she sighs, “Yes wait. The piece of his soul that Ornias gave to her is not just his anymore, her soul has adapted to it. Killer her and it also dwindles away. That’s why it’s taken her body after damaging it, for survival. I don’t think we have to worry about any physical harm coming to Maggie from this thing. What we do have to worry about is the physical harm she may inflict once it lets her go.”

“What do you mean?” Wyatt asks.

“It’s attached to her.” Tallulah repeats slowly. “It is now a part of her and that can’t mean she’ll be her old self after this. Ornias for all his dickhead tendencies had a lot of power and giving her even a fraction of that is going to be overwhelming. Depending on how much it spreads she could grow to be as powerful if not more powerful that Gideon or Lila.”
