The look on his face was undescribeable when he heard what I had asked him. He looked as if he had just won the lottery.

"Excuse me?" He tried to keep his smiling under control. I waved him to come over above my shoulder.

"Yes, do you want to come with me?"  His smile slowly faded.

"Oh, well yes I do. But what about my family?" He looked at me. He didn't want to leave them behind but he wanted to come with me by the way of his body language. His legs were open out with one foot facing my direction and the other foot was the other direction. "Do you really want me to come with you ma'm?"

"Of course I do." I pulled down my dress which was flowing up with the breeze.

"Come here." He gestured for me to follow him. I was hesitant. I turned back to my car and locked it. I jogged my way back over to, Shoeless, just a few steps falling behind his trail. We turned the corner behind the plaza stores. We passed behind their dumpsters and started walking into trees. I was wearing flats and thanked myself for changing into them before I started driving because at this point my feet would've been killing me. After a few more minutes of walking behind, Shoeless, tiptoeing over the pavement, and grass we came to a small camp. Their were few blankets hanging on sticks, actual tents for people to go camping in but had many holes and very dirty. A few boxes scattered around and in this small area were about twenty seven people all together surrounded by a small fire in the middle of the camp.  Even one small family with a child about the age of nine and the other was about five. All of them looked at me as if I was from a third world country. I glanced down at what I was wearing. Gold bracelet, neckalace, and a casual orange beach dress with orange flats with little diamonds to go with it. (I know I wasn't going to the beach, I just felt like putting it on.) Plus the fact I was wearing expensive weave which I think the dark lady sitting on a folded box noticed by staring at it.

"This is my family." He nodded towards them all. It seemed like a tribe and he was the leader. Thinking about it, he probably was.

"Hello." I waved and smiled. Someone scowled at that, so I just gave a tight smile instead. My teeth were straight and white, including the fact that the person who had done that didn't have neither of those.

Everyone else nodded their heads and some said hello. The child that was about 5 who I noticed to be a little boy who just had long hair came up to me. "Are you our guardian angel who will help us not live like this anymore?"

I opened my mouth but nothing came out. What could I have said? Of course I was. No, I wasn't a billionaire. I was just a middle class human who had bills to pay, as a consequence if I said anything positive all of the others would expect some help too.

"Oh." He looked down at the floor. His mother I suppose ran up and scooped him up. "I'm sorry." She gave me a tilted smile, turned back around, and went back to their small shelter under some blankets and box. I gave no facial expression because if I did I would become a suspect. I had pity for them but I guess it was best not to show it.

"I have something to say you all." Shoeless, put his hands up in the air and the big overall sweater he was wearing flung up with his arms. The stench flowed up to my nose again but I didn't have a reaction this time.

"I was wondering if I could go with this wonderful woman that we helped earlier with her car. Is that okay with you all?"

One person asked, "Go where?" everyone else chimed in with their 'yeas' and side chatter. I saw a woman point at me along with a few eye rolls. They were talking shit I could tell but what could I do? Do it back? I was not going to give to much energy into it. He quieted them all down again.
