"Why did I agree to this?"
"You didn't, I agreed for the both of us because they need our help" Ethan reminded his lover as they traveled through the familiar town of Beacon Hills, it wasn't an easy choice to make, they both knew what their fate could be if the plan went wrong; it's not like London was any safer though: hunters still roamed the streets looking for supernaturals to exploit and murder in cold blood, "where are we meeting Stiles, Scott, Lydia and Malia again?" Jackson asked, "Deaton's Veterinary."
Deaton had already turned the sign to closed so that the group could talk without being interrupted, it also meant nobody could spy on them either, Lydia was glad to see that they'd arrived safely; giving both of them tight hugs they got to work on discussing the plan, they could fill Hayden, Issac and Chris Argent in once they've arrived later into the evening, "is there anything important that we should be made aware of?" Jackson asked.
"We've got a letter" Stiles informed him.
"A letter?"
"Yeah" Malia replied, "and all we can make out is the word murder, you guys wanna give it a shot?" Handing over the piece of paper Ethan and Jackson carefully read it over and tried to make sense of what it said, the words were those that a child would form when first learning how to write, "how many days has it been since you got this letter?" Ethan asked, the group looked at one another trying to pinpoint the days, "five, why do you ask?" Looking towards Lydia in particular because she was the one to answer Ethan explained, "the person that wrote this gave you a deadline-"
"For what?" Malia interrupted, they didn't have time to play games, "to hand over Theo and if you didn't, he'd get him by force" in that moment everyone was paralyzed with shock, all this time they'd focused on protecting Liam; they'd thought Jay would go after him again when really they should've protected Theo, Liam's going to go insane when he find outs, "that explains why he's been missing for almost two days" Deaton pointed out, he remembered Scott telling him about the chimera's disappearance. "We've got to find him."
"No shit."
Having dragged Liam out of school on his break between classes, the Beta struggled underneath Scott and Ethan's grip, they were relentless when it came to getting him out of the public's sight and into somewhere more . . . closed off. "If you called me I would've complied, this is kidnapping!" He exclaimed angrily, they sat in the back of Lydia's car that was parked a block away from Beacon Hills High School, Mason and Corey had no idea what was going on, they were just as confused as Liam. "Ethan told us what the letter said" Scott explained, the car was filled with tension, "Scott, I know this is serious and you want to protect me and all but we have to find Theo and Nolan, besides I have school, can't this wait?"
"It involves Theo, Jays taken him: all along we thought he was after you but instead he was after Theo and that's why he never came home the other day" Liam looked at them with confused eyes, it didn't make no sense: why would Jay go after Theo when Liam was the one that broke them apart in the first place; plus he was a Beta: Jay wanted to kill or Beta's - he'd been the target of all this madness since day one, "we should've protected him" he mumbled, pushing Ethan and Scott away from him Liam scrambled out of the car and back to school, he wanted to save him, to have Theo back in his arms for one more day but what could he do . . . he was just the Beta with anger issues.
Mr Yukimura had left both Liam and Mason alone in the classroom, he hadn't even given them work to do he just said, "don't get into anymore trouble" he knew what they had in plan and he wasn't ready to stop them, deep down he encouraged them to get answers about the missing student, "my computers on if you boys need anything."
They waited for a while until they were sure it wasn't a trick, "coach is going to kill you for missing the match" said Mason, they searched through the files on the their teachers computer looking for anything that could be of use, "there's always next time" Liam replied, Corey had gone to help the others start the search for Theo and as much as Liam and Mason wanted to join they knew that what they were doing was crucial if they wanted to unravel Jay and Monroe's plan, this was their final fight and somebody needed to be afraid, "someone's coming."
It wasn't the footsteps that had caught his attention, it was the smell that burnt his nostrils and gave him haunting memories - sandalwood, Mason tried to hang on because he knew he was close to finding something but the anxiety in Liam's stomach was growing, if Jay found them alone in the room he didn't doubt that he'd try to kill them, the footsteps were nearing them quicker then before, the smell of sandalwood had been replaced with fear, what could he possibly be afraid of? Looking through the small window in the door Liam tried to see where the person heading towards them was but he couldn't see anything, just dark empty halls, "now would be good Mason."
"I've almost got it, don't rush me" his fingers danced across the keyboard typing random words and digits that confused Liam; he'd never been good with IT, his heartbeat was still beating loudly in his ears blocking out everything else around him, including the sound of footsteps heading towards the door he was hidden behind. In the corridor outside of room 142 a figure grew closer to the closed door with fear coursing their body, they'd seen something that they weren't prepared for and it had altered all their plans, she wasn't meant to be here; not today.
