But lost the war.
Wish I could have saved her,
For my sister, I adoreIt tore me to pieces,
Broken in cries,
But I saw her reflection,
In a different pair of eyesShe fought the same battle,
Saw the same war.
I vowed to protect her,

Cerin’s been on his high horse since the ceremony. He thinks that he’s actually on top of the world.
He wishes.
That imbecile is only a pawn in the game, a game that has been in progress for far longer than he’ll ever know. I was quite fortunate to find someone willing to play, someone with vengeance and the need for power burning in their heart, but this game will end soon.
It’s humorous to see him playing with his prey. He’s simply too blind to notice that there is one predator above him….waiting for the right moment to strike.
“Councilor Nukpana, when will we be able to finally get rid of Cerin? He’s driving me up the wall,” growls Hunapo, my right hand man.
“Soon, don’t fret. We need time to see if the ceremony was truly a success.”
“Well when will we know for sure?”
“Two week’s time tops.”
“And what is the situation with the mirror? Has the spell been broken yet?”
“Unfortunately no. Our little friend seems to have been stronger than we realized,” a smile creeps on to my face, “But that’s only better news for us.”
The grandfather clock on the wall strikes three. It’s time for the weekly meeting with the rest of the council.
“Remember not to speak a word of this to the others. They may be our brethren, but they will never be trusted.”
“But what about your wife? Shouldn’t she know?”
“Tamisra especially shouldn’t be aware of this. I trust her least of all for she has a fragile heart and weak spirit.”
“Understood Councilor Nukpana.”
“Good. We should arrive soon or else suspicion of our whereabouts may grow.”
-Evelyn-
“Why do I have to wear this? It’s only a meeting!”
“Cerin requested you dress properly. I don’t think he’ll allow you in the room if you’re wearing jeans and a t-shirt,” replies Meredith. She was offered the ‘privilege’ to work in the capital as my watcher. I’m just glad that I have someone to talk to that won’t make my ears bleed.
“Good!”
I don’t want to go to a stupid meeting! I won’t even be able to talk, so what’s the point? Cerin has been extremely controlling the past few days and I’m sick of it! Maybe it would’ve been better if I didn’t survive the ceremony. Then I wouldn’t have to deal with this eternal emptiness and Cerin’s sour disposition.
No. I have to keep going to see them.
If I don’t, then I wouldn’t want to imagine what they’d go through. Gabe’s death was rough enough on everyone, especially Marleen. I can’t put them through it again.
