Have a great day!)A million questions rush like a river
But none seem to have a definite answer
Maybe they do, but we can't see
What they are or what they mean
So rip them out, it won't matter
We only need to know the answer
Hurt who you must, will, and can
Don't care for the means, only the end-Cerin-
Nukpana hasn't been able to break through to the other side yet. If anything, it's just proof that the council is long overdue for some replacements. Nukpana is supposed to be the strongest one of them all and he's still too weak to undo a spell that a young girl with barely any training cast.
That's why he's asking me to go with him to the edge. I'll show him what I'm made of. Power; pure power.
I can't wait till I'll rule over the council. Those old dirtbags will be out of the council and I'll bring in some new blood. Then we'll be able to actually command some respect around here!
We're almost at the edge now. I see where the sky meets the ground.
Since the ceremony, I've felt invincible. This new power flowing through me feels so right, as if I was always meant to hold it. It belongs to me; now and forever. I can't believe that some child was so foolishly given this energy. Evelyn could've never used these powers to their full potential, but at least I can. They won't be left to waste away in a weak soul anymore.
We step out of the car once it stops. Nukpana takes out his rotting book. I don't know why he still carries such an old book. He's still stuck in the old ages, too afraid of change. That's why I'm here to bring a new dawn.
He reaches out his hand to me and I hold it. We start to chant the words of a spell. I have no idea what they mean and I don't very much care. Those old spells are as useless and old as he is.
It obviously doesn't work.
"Cerin, concentrate! You hold the powers that cast this spell. You should be able to remove it."
I restrain myself from rolling my eyes.
I actually put in some effort this time. It's not that I believe it could work; it won't. I just need to show that I'm loyal and devoted. I have to stay on his good side until he's overthrown.
............
It's already sundown. We tried every possible spell in the book multiple times until we're both weak from overuse.
"There must be a way to reopen the mirror!" Nukpana yells in a rough voice.
"Well I doubt the answer will be in your old books. They're practically falling apart."
"These are ancient texts! They hold all of the spells known to man!"
"Well apparently they don't have anything for opening a pathway that was closed by a teenage girl!"
He's dead silent which is usually a bad sign, but from what I can see under his hood, this isn't the case. A smile creeps up onto his lips.
"You're right. The one who holds the answer isn't within the books, but right under our noses."
My face mirrors his. I know exactly what he means.
-Nukpana-
The sky turns dark before we're back. I've always loved the inky night. It is the essence of my powers. Darkness has always been the core of my abilities and soul.
