later that week anna, holly and stu departed for their hometowns, john having to say goodbye to anna. he felt protective over her and was worried something horrible would happen while she was traveling alone, however, to put him at ease, she promised to call every night.

the trio arrived back on december the thirty first, new year's eve.

"ann!" holly waved frantically as anna departed her part of the train across from her. john watched impatiently as his girlfriend ran to her best friend, wrapping their arms around each other. stu waved over to john, who couldn't help but be happy his mate had arrived back home. "ive...we.." holly looked back towards stuart. "have a bit of a surprise." she held out her hand in front of anna.

"a wedding band?!" she screamed through the station, laughing as annoyed passengers stopped to look at the disturbance. "oh that's wonderful, holl. congrats." she quickly spat, noticing john and itching for a warm kiss in the bitter cold weather. john noticed her looking at him.

"come 'ere miss wilton." john rolled his eyes and opened his arms, allowing her to run towards him, squeezing him tightly before kissing him. "I've missed ye." she reached up to kiss his nose.

"I've missed you too." she replied cutely before john slipped a hand to her back, the four friends walking out of the station.

"oh, pete's having a party at the casbah tonight. and ye all better be there." he poked anna's nose. "ye especially." she giggled and squeezed john closer to her.

anna felt a bit uncomfortable coming back home and being thrown into a swarm of people in a cramped little club. she had wanted to spend a cozy evening in a hot bath with john and this was very far from that dream.

she managed to squeeze her way through to the bar to order a black velvet, however it was already sitting on the counter. the bartender winked, the same one from the cavern. anna shook any confusion from her mind and walked over towards paul and george who smiled at her, giving her a sense of warmth and comfort.

"hey boys!" she chimed, hugging each of them.

"how was yer holiday from John?" george joked, pressing his lips to a cigarette.

"can i have one?" anna poked quickly. he nodded and gave her the one he just lit. "I'm slightly worried he cheated." she released.

"ill be honest with ye, we were worried about it as well because well, it's john." paul began, whispering. "but he focused on songwriting and spent a lot of time with me. it's possible he did, but he seems to be head o'er heels for ye." anna's heart lightened as she turned around to look at john, who was laughing with pete.

"i missed ye lot." anna smiled and ruffled up george's hair. they grinned at her as she walked towards john with a banjo in his hands.

"oh ain't she sweet, see her walking down that street..." john's lips curved into a handsome smile as his girlfriend walked into his view, sitting down next to him, a small crowd encircling the couple. "yes i ask you very confidentially ain't she sweet?" he leaned in and kissed anna, his lips tasting of whiskey.

"may i?" she took it and strummed a happy chord before beaming at John. "oh dirty maggie mae, they have taken her away, and she'll never walk down lime street anymore. oh the judge he guilty found her, for robbin the homeward bounder, that dirty, no good, robbin maggie mae!" cheers erupted around her as john stared in shock.
