utter shock.

ruel stepped into the position to babysit? why the fuc-

my thoughts, as usual are cut off, from a sudden movement. looking up ruel storms up and grabs his phone, aggressively typing. about to follow him out, just because i'm curious, until i see him turn into the bathroom. probably seeking privacy. 

"coco!" i hear kate yell from the bottom of the stairs, then hearing some tumbling and rustling noises. hearing some steps towards the staircase. finally seeing a blonde-haired, pretty, slender faced girl, pop her head out from behind a wall.

"yes mom?" she says with a hint of mischief

"well first off, here's the wonderful girl you were supposed to be babysitting with" gesturing to me. and i see her with a slight smile on her face, as she eyes me up and down.

"wow you're really pretty, haha" she says with all honesty, in return i give her a big smile, silently thanking her, "also, i got off the hook?!" 

"no offense to you, by the way." she says towards me.

"oh don't worry i get it" i say with a little laugh.

"yeah, ruel decided he would step in for today" kate says, answering coco's question.

"odd, he said he had somewhere to be tonight, and how he 'just couldn't stay' with the sitter tonight" motioning with he hands in quotation marks. watching her be sarcastic makes me let out a subtle laugh, in return i see her grinning at me.

she starts to make her way down the stairs, taking her phone out of her back pocket typing something, then tucking it back into her pants pocket. i see her smile down at me again, and then she starts her way towards me.

"just thought i'd introduce my self properly" she chuckles, "i'm stella, but a lot of people call me coco"

"that's really cool, i like your name and nickname" i say back happily, "i'm skylar"

"well, it would've been a pleasure to spend tonight with you, but someone took my place" she says meaning ruel. i let out a laugh and she giggles to herself.

"what a shame" i say with a frown, "maybe we could spend time outside of babysitting" i suggest.

"yes yes, of course!" she says excitedly, pulling out her phone to let me give her contact information. i take her phone and punch in my phone number, then handing it back to her.

"ok well, i had a couple backup plans in case, so i've gotta go" she says making a silly, sad face.

"yeah of course, see you around coco!" i wave her out the door.

a moment later, ruel walks out of the bathroom, scanning to family room with his eyes. eventually he starts to make his way over to me, with a very small smile on his face.

"where's coco?" he says confused.

"oh she left, because your mom told her you're helping me instead" i mention and look up at him. he looks straight ahead, the smile on his face growing.
