→ruel's pov←

i take a look at what she's wearing, a beautiful dress, yet i think she's what's making the dress beautiful. i've seen girls try to dress up to 'impress' me before, from all the meet and greets, to just in public with my friends. they pull up their skirts, but pull down their shorts, and all it's really done is make a disgusted face at what they're doing.

but here i am, taking many looks at skylar, in a modest yet beautiful dress. the white flowers contrasting the red fabric, flowing far down her legs. finally taking a look back at her face, seeing a wide smile and no makeup, my favorite face on sky.

"is something wrong?" she says curiously, brows furrowed, "you keep looking me up and down like something's wrong" she starts.

"no, no way, you're just so gorgeous" i say blushing a bit, it makes me smile when i see her do the same. the red taking over her cheeks more intense than mine. she looks down towards my hand, while she's twiddling her thumbs.

i follow her gaze, remembering the flowers i got for her. "just for you, my queen" i present them to her. she giggles out of excitement, gently taking the flowers from me.

"thank you, let me put these in some water really quick" she says then rushes back inside the house. i watch her quickly fill a vase with water, then set the flowers in, slightly styling them. rushing in the direction of her room, probably to conceal them from her parents.

i'm not sure if her parents are aware of who i am, but i know that if they do know, they probably know very little. i've never met them, and they've never met me, by now i've accepted that's how it's going to be. it's not sky's fault either, she wishes her parents were in her life more. often commenting how close my parents are with the rest of my family.

i hear her foot steps becoming louder as she makes her way in my direction. "okay! let's go" she rushes out as she grabs my hand. chuckling i let her lead me to the car, and once there i reach the door handle pulling it open for her.

she gracefully climbs into the car, slamming her door shut. clumsily running around the hood of the car, seeing her wide smile through the thick glass of the windshield. once i'm in the car, i let out a loud sigh, "are you ready?" i ask holding my palm out for her to place her hand in.

she nods aggressively as she takes my hand, "i'm so excited!" she jumps around in her seat a bit. i slide my phone over to her to play music through the speakers, her choosing some pop music for us to sing to.

"buckle up for me, bebe, don't want anything to happen to you" i say kissing the back of her hand. she reluctantly pulls her hand away from mine, reaching for her seatbelt, clicking it into place. "thank you"

driving through many highways and different roads, we were exactly on track. throughout the previous night, i memorized the lengthy directions to where we were going. knowing i wanted to be a complete surprise to sky, i didn't want the address to give away where i was taking her.

after awhile in the car, i could sense sky becoming more restless, shifting around uncomfortably in her seat. "almost there, lovely, it'll be worth it" i say with a smile looking at her. i see her shoulders relax, her melting into the seat a bit more.

bringing the car slowly to a stop along the curb, smiling at the valet guy, handing him some money and the keys to the car. "thank you, man"" i say shaking his hand, then looking over my shoulder to make sure skylar is okay. when i turn to see her i'm met with a wide smile, yet confused eyes.

"what are we doing?" she says, walking towards me. placing my hand on the small of her back, gesturing up to the sign. the 1975 spelled out, with tiles on an older movie awning. her smile only widens, as she starts jumping up and down, excitedly. "no way! you did this for me?" she exclaimed.

"yeah of course sky, of course" i say wrapping my lengthy arms around her, as she squeals in excitement. sky has a favorite band, one direction, but a close second, the 1975.

what she doesn't know, is i'm friends with a couple of the members, but i asked them to keep the similar secret. i see her float towards the main entrance, but i gently grab her arm, reeling her back towards me.

"we have to go through the stage door" i say down at her, and her eyes widen. she pulls back, mouth hanging low, and tries to speak yet no words come out.

"ruel..." she says hesitantly, "ruel, what did you do?" she says suspicious of me. i see her eyes move across my face, trying to analyze my features, she's trying to read me.

"nothing, nothing, i know some people, it's alright. sky, really, i promise you will have an amazing time" i try to persuade her. the shocked face still set on her face as she starts moving closer to me.

i thought she was going to hug me, but instead she started lightly hitting my chest. "ruel van dijk! did you pay more money for this?" she exclaims, looking adorably angry.

i didn't pay anything for this, at all

"it wasn't much, sky. it's okay"

i'm good friends with the band

"it's gonna be fun, we'll get introduced and everything"

eventually after some time, she lets me continue with my plan, letting me usher her through the stage door. "pretty cool, huh?" i whisper, seeing some other crew members hustling around. she only nods in agreement, silently taking in the scene.

"ah, you must be ruel and sky" our attention is redirected to a man starts walking towards us. i wrap my arm around sky's waist, nodding at him with a glance down at her. "well c'mon the band is waiting for you".
