Chapter 4

I could feel the cold air hitting my bare skin and flowing through my feathers. I lay still on the floor. The door to the concrete room opened. A man stood there. His face was unrecognizable but his bad intentions were anticipated. I felt him grab my arms and pin me to the floor. He had broken my wings so I couldn't fly away. I tried to scream but couldn't. I felt frozen, unable to move, talk, or blink.

"Y/N!" I heard someone yell my name and open my eyes. Immediately I jump up and hug Keigo. "You're okay, you were just dreaming." My heart was beating fast and I was breathing heavily. I started crying into his shoulder and held onto him tighter. He rubbed my back and used his wings to shield us. The darkness was comforting. "I heard you screaming so I ran in as fast as I could. You were still asleep so I knew I had to wake you up. For now I just need you to breathe..."

I nodded and tried to steady my breath and wiped my eyes. "Thank you...." I mumble.

"You can tell me about it later okay?" I nod again with tears still falling down my cheeks."You'll be okay, no one is getting hurt, no one is trying to hurt you. You're safe and in my house." He had me calmed down and let me go. "I made pancakes if you want any," still trying to show that I was safe, he grabbed my hand and lead me to the dining table.

"We'll try to have a less chaotic day, more chill, how about you stay here? I'll call you if I need help." I nodded and started to eat. "Is it good? It's my own recipe," it was good. There were raspberries and black berries. "There's the smile I wanted to see." Keigo was happy to finally see me smile and it made me smile even more.

"You can make whatever you want while I'm gone. Don't make too much of a mess. Be ready at 5 for patrol. I'll come get you, okay?" We had finished our food and he was ready to leave.

"Stay safe," I call out to him as he flies away. Time for some baking. Let's see, chocolate chip cookies are first on our list. I turn on some music and start gathering everything. I had baked the cookies and a cake by the time 4 cam around, should probably start getting ready.

I cleaned everything in the kitchen and put the sweets away. Then I took a shower and got my hero costume on. Keigo came in and saw me on the couch. "Come on, let's go." He motioned towards himself and I smiled and followed him out the door. "Whatever you made it smells good. Smells like cake and cookies."

"I made chocolate chip cookies and a strawberry cake," I skipped like a child.

"You seem like you're in a much better mood than when I left you," he smiled. I just nodded and we continued our patrol. As we were walking, I heard people talking about something across town. Hostages? Keigo and I flew over to where it had been reported. There were police officers at the scene already, "What's the situation officer?"

"Three people inside, armed, holding around 30 hostages," the officer replied,"there may be more inside."

"Okay," Keigo turned to me,"Check the roof and the back to see if there are any openings. Tell me if you see anyone else." I fly to the top of the roof and see a man guarding an entrance. As silent as I can be, I plant my feet on his back and knock him to the ground. He passes out from the impact.

"I have one person, he's knocked out," I reported back to Keigo, he used his feathers to pick the man up and bring him to the officers. "It's time for me to check the back."

"Be careful," I looked over the edge and someone else was standing there.

"There's someone back there as well," that's when the man got pinned to the floor and Keigo ran in with a few officers to arrest them. Someone put a bag over my head and grabbed me. I let out a scream but we were already inside. My wings and my arms were tied behind my back. The bag got taken off of my head. Someone held me and had a gun to my head, showing me off to the crowd of police.
