Chapter 6

My bags were packed and I was standing outside of the train station. Keigo was fretting over me. "You sure you don't want me to get on the train with you?" He had his hands on my shoulders looking worriedly into my eyes.

"I'll be okay, I always call you if there's an emergency."

"Text me everytime the train stops somewhere. Call me when you get home, please."

"I will, see you later," I give him a hug and walk off the find my train. I didn't sleep this time and made sure to text Keigo exactly where we stopped. The train got to my destination and I started to walk home.

I opened the door to my house and was overwhelmed with the smell of cigarette smoke. "Mom! I'm back!"

"Took you long enough," I heard her groan from the kitchen. I roll my eyes and go into my room to put my stuff away and call Keigo.

"Hey, I'm home."

"Good, I'll text you later tonight, bye." We hung up and I flopped onto the bed. My body was very sore and I was getting a little tired. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

When I woke up it was around 7 pm. The sun was setting so the sky was a vibrant orange. It's light shining into my room. "I need to go get dinner." I sat up and grabbed my wallet, heading out to the convince store. Onigiri and instant ramen was the meal for tonight.

My mom was passed out on the couch when I had gotten home, beer cans surrounding her. I need to get out of here... I'll call Nejire.

The phone rang for a little before someone picked it up. "Y/N? It's late is everything okay?"

"Yeah, can I stay the night?"

"Of course you can 😊 the house is always welcome for you to come in"

"Thanks, just let me eat first"

"No problem, see you soon"

After everything was cleaned up I packed everything I needed. Let's hope that my mom is sober when I come home tomorrow. I was welcomed into Nejire's home and she set a mat on the floor next to her bed.

"Everything okay with your mom?" She has a look of concern on her face. Oh she's so sweet and pretty.

"House reeks of cigarette smoke. When I woke up from my nap she was passed out drunk on the couch," I explain the situation I had just come from.

"Yeah, no fun. Let's distract you," she thought about what to talk about for a second,"How was your internship?"

"Very good, did you see the news?"

"Oh yeah! The hostage situation, must've been really scary." I nodded and told her about what happened and showed the cut on my leg.

"Hawks helped me design a new costume and I'm hoping it comes in soon so I don't have to wear my PE uniform for training."

"I'm sure it's going to be really cool. So you're gonna keep doing your work study with Hawks, I'm guessing"

"Yeah, when I graduate I'm gonna move in with him until I can make enough money to get a house."

"Sounds like a plan," she yawns,"welp, it's getting late we should try and get some rest." She turned off the light. The full moon illuminated the room with a glow. My eyelids slowly closed as sleep overcame me.

I was running through a dark hallway. My bare feet echoed off the walls. A man stopped me. It was the one from last week that confronted me in the alleyway. Suddenly everything around me was consumed by his blue flames. I felt a hot burning sensation on my wings.

They were fire resistant but for some reason they burned. I looked back and noticed that they weren't my wings. They were scarlet red. That's when I realized I was in Keigo's body.

I sat up quickly and saw that the sun was coming up and lighting the room up. Nejire slowly got up."Good morning Y/N, sleep well?" she said rubbing her eyes.

"I- uhhh good morning," I stuttered as I slowly got up. I found my phone and noticed that Keigo had texted me.

❤️BirbBrain🧡: Hey Y/N, I just wanted to inform you that we will have a class 1-A student joining us for his work study. Hope you have a nice day, eat some breakfast 😁

Me: Class 1-A huh? What's his name I want to meet him

❤️BirbBrain🧡: That's a surprise. He also doesn't know yet

Me: Oh? So they're a he?

❤️BirbBrain🧡: C'mon kid, that doesn't give you very much information

Me: I will figure it out!!!

❤️BirbBrain🧡: I doubt that, now go get ready for school

We ended our conversation there and Nejire and I went downstairs to find that her mother was making breakfast. I was thinking about who the student could be. I looked back to the sports festival and realized there was a kid who looked like a bird. His quirk was Dark Shadow or something.

He did pretty well too, third place. It's a huge possibility that that's who Keigo had chosen to bring under his wing, literally. "So, you ready to go back to school?" Nejire asked excitedly as we were walking to the school grounds,"I can't to see Mirio and Tamaki again."

"The ball of sunshine and the ball of anxiety. The ball of anxiety is a bean though."

"What am I then?" She leaned forward to look at me with her hands behind her back.

"Hmm, a rose bud?" I thought for a little, "You're also a bean. But a rose bud isn't a ball of anything. It's a ball of rose petals. Oh!! I know!! You're a ball of cheerful excitement!"

"You're a ball of strength."

"I'm a what now?"

"Ball of strength, you manage to pull through any situation you're put through. Not very many people can do that."

"I-....thanks," a slight blush appeared on my face.

"Hey you guys!!! How was your internship?? I saw the news Y/N that was awesome! " Mirio was running up to us with a huge smile, Tamaki following behind.

"It was great and thank you," the blush on my face grew darker.

"What's up?" Mirio looked concerned.

"Everyone has been giving me compliments and...I guess I'm getting a little flustered, I'm sorry." I cover my face with my hands.

"That's okay Y/N, but those compliments everyone's giving you are true. I'm not sure what you and Nejire were talking about before but you were very brave."
