(13) Unexpected

Two Months later

"Baby breakfast will be done soon." Bucky yelled up the stairs.

She came into the kitchen she took a bite of a sliced avocado. As she started to walk off nausea washed over her.

"Baby..oh god did the avocados go bad. I just bought them two days ago." He said

"No..I just suddenly felt very sick to my stomach." She said as she took her plate.

"Don't forget that conditioning starts this afternoon so I won't be home till around 8." He said

"I know." She said as they began to eat breakfast.

On their way to school she pulled over to puke. Bucky pulled in behind her he held her hair.

"Oh god baby. Maybe you should see if they can find you a sub so you can go to the doctor?" He said

"I'm fine. I feel better now." She said

"You go on to the school I have to stop at the gas station. I will get you some ginger ale or sprite.." he said

"Okay." She said as she got back in her Jeep.

Bucky showed up in her classroom about 15 minutes later. He sat a bottle of sprite on her desk and a bag of peppermints. She looked up at him. "Thanks." She whispered

"Welcome baby. The bell is about to ring so I better go." He said then he kissed her head

"Love you." He whispered

"Love you too." She whispered

She opened up her sprite and took a drink. It was the last week of April all teachers were starting to get their students ready for finals. When she saw the date on her board she went wide eyed.

"Oh shit..I'm late." She whispered as the bell rang.

After school she picked up a home pregnancy test. She sat on the side of the tub as she waited for the results. When the two minutes was up she flipped them both over and saw pregnant on both of them.

She heard Bucky come in a few minutes later.

"Hey baby..I'm home." He said

She picked them up as she was coming the downstairs. Bucky was talking to someone on the phone he had it on speakerphone.

When he seen her he smiled at her. She bit her lip then laid them on the counter. He picked them up to read them.

"Seriously?" He mouthed

She shook her head yes. "I love you." He mouthed and kissed her.

She hugged him. "George I'm grateful for the offer but I have moved on. In the last year that I've been away I've been able to reconnect with my family my friends. But more importantly I found love and as much as I love football. Coming back to the NFL is out of the question." He said to the person on the phone.

Landry looked up at him as she still had her arms around him. "But James this is a good deal with the Broncos. And Mrs Parks has passed on Jordy came forward with the truth we have cleared your name Barnes. You are a damn good player hall of fame good." George said

Bucky looked at Landry then the pregnancy tests. "I'm sure I have all I need right here in Georgia." He said

"Okay then. It was a pleasure talking to you Barnes. We will miss you on the field." George said

"Thanks." Bucky said as he hung up.

Bucky kissed her. "We are having a baby." He said

She smiled at him. "We are having a baby." She said

"God I love you." He said

"I'm really hungry." She said

"Well I brought home Arby's." He said

"Yum." She said as she let go of him.

Two weeks later

"Ms Dallas and Mr Barnes." The nurse said at her doctors office.

They went back to an exam room with a ultrasound machine in it. Dr Julie Wilder came in after Landry changed into the medical gown.

"Last period was in Feb. So it is now May..so let's see what we have going on shall we." Dr Wilder said as she got the machine ready.

The nurse put the gel on Landry's stomach. "I'm not gonna do an exam Landry cause you were here in Jan." Dr Wilder said

"Okay." She said

Dr Wilder began to move the wand around her stomach. The sound of a heart beat surrounded the room. 

"That's baby's heart beat. And here is baby. Just one and you look to be about 10 weeks due in November." Dr Wilder said

Bucky felt a lump forming in his throat. His baby their baby. He smiled so big when she let them hear it one more time. When the appointment was over they shared a kiss.

"Even though things are moving fast baby. I do love you sweet darlin." He whispered

"I love you too." She said as she kissed him.

He moaned. "I've gotta get to football practice baby. Are you making dinner tonight or am I picking up dinner?" He said

"I'm cooking tonight. We are eating on the side porch again." She said

"You love that view don't you?" He said

"It was one of my favorite things about tutoring you on Saturdays. Driving out to the countryside it was so pretty in the fall and the sunsets are beautiful." She said

He smiled at her. "My favorite thing about tutoring on Saturdays was having you at my house." He said

"Yeah right." She said

"Landry..I'm the reason why you were always paired with me." He said

She looked at him confused. "After freshmen year I asked to be paired with you everytime. I know I wasn't the easiest person to tutor. I was arrogant and a ass. And probably more difficult then anyone else.  But you..you didn't give up on me Lan so I figured that it would be best to have you as my tutor. See in middle school I struggled and had like 5 tutors all of them gave up on me. I had my eye on the prize just had to finish school and make it to college. Natasha and Bobbi helped me with college cause I was still focused on NFL. I'm not dumb i understand it all I just didn't have my head in the right place." He said

"So you chose me after freshmen year?" She said

"I did. And I loved Saturdays because you would show up looking so cute in your messy buns and leggings. You have iron patience baby because I know that a lot of times you had to fight me when Football game's were on." He said

She looked down. "I always saw you baby. But like that song you played for me the other night. I grew up and got my shit together." He said

She kissed him. "Get to practice my football lovin boyfriend." She said

He chuckled. "Get home my love I will see you soon." He said as they kissed one more time.
