Slowly putting her phone on her ears, Joy breathed before speaking, "Op--."
"Hi," his deep voice echoed through her end of the line.
She can almost see the smirk on his face right now.
"Sorry, did I wake you? You said you were sleeping already," says Sungjae.
There was silence for a few seconds before his next words came, "I just wanted to hear your voice again." Then he chuckled.
Jesuussss Yook Sungjae!
It almost got out of her mouth when she heard him speak.
Before she can do a comeback, he spoke again, "I miss you already."
Joy breathed and bit her lower lip to supress herself from screaming. Her lips were about to tear from smiling too much. Every cell on her body is tingling with what she just heard.
She stretched her legs to lie down on her bed for better support.
"Oouuuch!"
Sungjae was surprised upon hearing her shriek. She could hear worry in his tone when he asked.
"Sooyoung-ah! Wae geurae?"
Great job Park Sooyoung. You haven't even uttered one word and now you're screaming!
An inward sermon was all she could do as she gently massage the top of her head to help ease the pain.
"I'm okay oppa, I just...I bumped my head on my headboard when I was lying down."
Sungjae's laughter echoed through her phone. She couldn't help but smile hearing him laugh. She likes his laugh, it always sounds so genuine that he makes her laugh too.
"Thank you so much for your concern," Joy sarcastically muttered, feeling the pain on her head slowly subsiding.
"I think your headboard lived up to its name."
"Ha. Ha. Very funny."
I miss you already...
Those words were still lingering in her mind. As well as the events that happened the whole day and her worry about him earlier.
"Sorry oppa...for what happened earlier."
Joy could hear Sungjae sigh lightly, the one you take before talking about serious stuffs.
"Hey, there's nothing to be sorry about," he paused, but that didn't hinder Joy to hear the bit of sadness in his tone and the sound of horn from a nearby vehicle.
I'm still sorry op—wait, why is there a horn in his background when their apartment is on the 16th floor.
She tried to make sense about it inside in her head but he cut her thoughts off.
"Can you come out for second?"
"What do you mean come out?" She questioned, a but confused of why he would ask that of her unless...
No way.
Joy thought, trying to calm her nerves. She didn't want to get her hopes but of course she's hoping.
Their apartment was on the 6th floor, so the world below isn't miles apart and things can still be vividly seen by the naked eye.
Joy ran towards the window on hers and Yeri's room. It was situated above the entrance of the building and beside the main street of the neighborhood.
Trying to make out of what's below, she scrunched her eyes and nose and suddenly opened her eyes widely when she recognized the silver car.
Oh my God! No friggin' way!
