What do you think about billionaire and CEO Layla?

Enjoy!

Caught in the act.

She actually caught me gossip about her on my first day of work.

Damn!

I was a deer caught in the headlights. I looked at her wide-eyed with my mouth hanging open. Anke, Matt and Esme pretended like nothing had happened and went about their business, looking anywhere but at her.

"Mathew?" she drawled with a bored expression on her pretty face.

What! Did I just think that? Focus Mace, remember why you're here. Besides you're not a fan of caramel skin remember.

....right?

" Yes Ma'am, what do you need?" Matt was back on professional mode. I could see the respect and fear everyone in the company had for her. Wherever she walked a hushed silence followed her.

"When you're done with your lunch, come to my office right away. Bring Mr Gossiper with you." She said as she sashayed her way to her office. As if she had forgotten something she shouted over her shoulder quite unprofessionally, " and oh Mathew, please bring me some strawberries yeah?" Then she disappeared in the corner of the room.

"Strawberries?" I questioned with a smirk.

"Yeah, strawberries, she practically lives on them. " And man, you're in deep shit."

"What do you presume she's going to say?" I asked Matt who gave me a sympathetic look.

"You're dead meat. That's what." Esme decided to give her opinion. " Quite the record for a newbie don't you think? "

"I wasn't planning on getting fired on my first day but I guess I should have known better than to do what I did." I slumped on my seat and accepted my fate.

"Hey, she might not fire you. Cheer up." Anke comforted me. "Mr Gossiper." She added more to herself but we all heard and the rest burst out laughing.

"Better have learned your lesson, Collins." Esme turned to me with a serious tone.

I sure did learn my lesson though. If I wanted to survive in the company, I had to abide by the rules, and that meant always being on Layla's good side.

If she doesn't fire me that is.

After taking our lunch, Esme headed for her office while Anke, Matt and I took the elevator to the twentieth floor. Matt had a bowl full of strawberries for her highness and I was... Well, I was me.

I wasn't afraid of her and I wasn't going to let her intimidate me.

Once we got the twentieth floor, Anke went directly to her office and Matt and I was left to do the walk of dread by ourselves.

"Brace yourself," Matt said before knocking on Layla's door three times then opened the door.

Her office was huge, almost the size of an apartment. It was painted dark grey and there was a plush black couch at the side. Her table was dark brown with expensive-looking stuff on it. At the back of her desk was a glass wall that gave a wonderful view of the city below us and all the tall towers and buildings. The view was jaw-dropping.

"Have a seat." Her voice was very stern and Matt was almost peeing his pants.

I take back what I had said. I'm very much afraid of her.

At that moment, I understood why everyone was so afraid of her. When she spoke, you just had to listen. Her voice commanded attention and respect.

Matt placed the bowl of strawberries on her table and we took our seats on the opposite chairs.

"Do you both know the policies of this company?" She asked and we both nodded hastily. She wasn't pleased with that.

"Mathew, you know how much I hate it when people don't answer back?" She fired with venom in her eyes.

"So..sorry Ma'am." Matt stuttered and I held in a laugh.

"What's funny here Mr?" It was my turn to go pale.

" You know what, this is what I'm going to do. Mathew, you will take over his office and you will teach him all the basics of working with me. He's going to be my new personal assistant. I'll give you a raise in your salary, you deserve it. How you put up with me is an extraordinary skill. Let's see how Mr Gossiper's going to like working with the boss. Teach him everything he needs to know, tomorrow he'll be starting. Good luck to the two of you. You may leave now."

I had a feeling she was going to turn me into her personal servant but at least I was getting closer to her, to get my mission done. It is better than getting fired.
