Chapter 9: Summer is Coming

Ruby's P.O.V:

Harries, Whippet, Deano, Troy, Jesse, Kerrbox and I walk to The Bucket list for celebratory drinks for both me and Troy. (Well, I can't drink but still). When we get there we sit down. Troy gets up to get a drink. I need to go for a walk. I go to Deano who, apart from me, is the only sober person there. Me and Deano were pretty close after I told him my secret. I find him and tap his shoulder. He turns around.

"I'm going for a walk!" I shout over the music. He nods. I turn around and walk outside to the salty air. I walk down the Prominade. The night was clear and silent except for the waves crashing on the rocks. I don't feel right. I walk to the cliff where Troy first kissed me. The memory of it flushes through my mind. I stare out at the water for about 20 minutes and decide to head back. Still not feeling right. I stand outside an alleyway when a strong pair of hands grab onto my shoulder and mouth to stop me from screaming. The mystery person shoves me into the alleyway and I see their face. It was a man, who looks about 29, with a tattoo on his chest saying Bra Boy, and another saying My Brother Keeper. He starts talking to me softly.

"Hey honey, what's a nice lookin' lady like you doin' out here tonight?" He's definitely drunk.

"Please don't hurt me," I whisper. He shakes his head and starts undoing his shorts. I start shaking. He starts pulling of my shirt and I scream.

"HELP! SOMEBODY HELP ME!" I hear footsteps and a man scream.

"GET AWAY FROM HER!" He screams and punches the guy. I scream again, this time, nothing in particular. The other person ran off whilst the man that saved me picks me up. I panic, screaming even more. He puts me down.

"Hey, hey, it's ok!" he soothes me. I just nod.

"I'm Chris Brown, what's your name?" he asks.

"R-ruby W-white," I whimper. A voice comes from behind us, Chris turns around and punches him.

"OW!" It's Deano.

"Oh D-deano!" I stutter. "Sorry! This is,"

"Oh Deano! Sorry!" Chris says, I look at him weirdly. "I know all the Lifeguards., we're all mates." He smiles.

"That makes you my mate as well!" I giggle. "Cause' I'm a Lifeguard." He smiles.

"What happened Ruby?" Deano asks. I start sobbing.

"She was almost raped." Chris answers. Deano grabs my arm and I flinch away. He frowns. I start crying.

"Lets go, thanks Chris." Deano says. We walk back to the Bucket List. We come in and the song "Bad Child" was playing when Jesse ran up to us, well, physically he was that drunk, and grabbed my arm to pull me on the dance floor but I pull away. They both frown.

"Alright Jesse, get some water for everyone and we'll get the others." Jesse nods then runs into a wall. I giggle. I don't want to get drunk, glad I'm underage. I look around to see both men gone. I run after Deano. We just manage to wrangle up everybody after 20 minutes. Whilst I hum the tune, he gives the men water. We then pull everyone out of the bar. I put Troy to bed and put some Pain Killers on the desk next to him. I sit down and get a text from Deano.

Hey hon, you ok? XXX I reply back.

Yeah XXX I get a text back strait away.

Really? He sends back, I sigh.

YES I'm going to bed ,goodnight

Ok. if you need anything, I'm right here. I turn my phone off and cry. Why can't I have good luck?

The morning comes around, I only got about a half hour of shut eye, and I have work. I slip on my uniform and walk downstairs. Troy was already there, clutching his head.

"Awww," I say, "has wittle Twoy got a sore head?" He rolls his eyes and kisses my cheek.

"Morning to you too babe." he sighs, I giggle. I grab some bread and put it in the toaster. It pops and I grabbed the sauce.

"I still don't know why you like that!" He smiles, I shrug my shoulders. "Oh yes!" He screams. I raise an eyebrow at him. "It's almost Summer!" He dances around.

"And why is that good?" I ask.

"Cause you need experience." he smiles. "Come on! Let's go!"
