Chapter 14: Guppy

Troy's P.O.V:

"I'm still really sorry Tania." Ruby says from beside me, I look across, my eyes still on the road. She wants to apologize to Antania after she had to skip on the night everyone was going to have together.

Seriously, babe, it's fine! Antania says. "Anyways, I gotta go, see ya!" She says.

"Bye Tania!" We both call. I chuckle.

"What?" Ruby says.

"You sounded so naggy there." I smile. She just rolls her eyes. "Ah, here we are, Bondi Adoption Center!" I stop the car outside the modern building. We look around. Neither of us had been here before. There's buildings everywhere and dog parks as far as the eyes can see. The Summer theme is evident as Summer is tomorrow. Which also means Bondi Rescue will be aired and everyone around the world will know who Ruby is. We walk into the building. The lady at the reception desk looks up. She smiles.

"Hi there! What are you looking for today?" She smiles, instantly making us feel welcome.

"Hi, we're looking for a dog," I smile back. The lady nods.

"Name please?" She asks as she grabs her paper form. I look at Ruby.

"Ruby White." She nods,

"Age?"

"16."

"And reason why your getting a dog?" She looks up.

"Um, because we're getting one to work at Bondi to sniff out bag thieves." The lady's face then clicks, like she's just finished a mental puzzle.

"That's where I know you from sir!" She looks at me, "You're Troy 'Gonzo' Quinlan!" I smile and nod.

"Yep, that's me!" She stands up,

"Well, I have a job to do, I'll show you to where you'll be asked some questions to find out what sort of dog you'll get." We follow her to an area with comfortable sofas. We sit down and the receptionist leaves.

"Thanks for coming with me Troy," Ruby says. I kiss her cheek.

"You know I'd do anything for you Ruby." I look at her. "Yeah, it sounds cheesy but I would." We both laugh.

"Well," Ruby says between laughs, "I'll be your cracker!" We both love cheese and crackers, which made this even more funny.

"Ruby White?" Someone comes out to call us to answer some questions. We stand up and walk towards the newest member of the Lifeguard Team.

Ruby's P.O.V:

"I still can't believe that they found a dog for us!" I say.

"Ruby," Troy says to me, "stop doubting yourself!" I smile. We walk into the meeting pen to see a dog keeper and the most amazing golden Labrador I had ever seen! With her amazing brown eyes and cute button nose.

"Aaaaaaaaawwwwwwww!" I say.

"Hi!" the keeper says to me, "so this is Guppy, she's a two month old golden Labrador." My heart instantly melts. She is the cutest thing I've ever seen. We sit down and I ask the most important question,

"How's her water ability?" I look at her. She looks nervous.

"Umm, since she's so young, nobody actually knows," I smile, this wouldn't be much of a problem as she wasn't really doing rescues.

"Well Guppy, welcome to your new life!"
