Ruby's P.O.V:
As we get closer to Flat Rock, we both realize that this wasn't a person. "It's a horse!" I exclaim.
"Unreal!" Tania says. I forget about my radio, and telling the boys what is happening. The horse is a perfect white, with a white mane and scars all over it. I'm in awe.
Tower to Rhubarb, what's happening out there? Oh, whoops!
"Rhubarb to Tower," I roll my eyes at the funny name, "it's not a person, it's a horse." I wait for the radio to crackle and for someone to respond, but all I hear is a thud. I chuckle to myself. We slowly step towards the beautiful creature. The horse starts to struggle harder and I raise my hand, signaling Antania to stop. The brunet does as she's told. I start humming a tune. The song, 7 years filled my mind.
Once I was seven years old my momma told me
Go make yourself some friends or you'll be lonely
Once I was seven years oldIt was a big big world, but we thought we were bigger
Pushing each other to the limits, we were learning quicker
By eleven smoking herb and drinking burning liquor
Never rich so we were out to make that steady figureOnce I was eleven years old my daddy told me
Go get yourself a wife or you'll be lonely
Once I was eleven years oldI always had that dream like my daddy before me
So I started writing songs, I started writing stories
Something about that glory just always seemed to bore me
'Cause only those I really love will ever really know meOnce I was twenty years old, my story got told
Before the morning sun, when life was lonely
Once I was twenty years oldI only see my goals, I don't believe in failure
'Cause I know the smallest voices, they can make it major
I got my boys with me at least those in favor
And if we don't meet before I leave, I hope I'll see you laterOnce I was twenty years old, my story got told
I was writing 'bout everything, I saw before me
Once I was twenty years old
Soon we'll be thirty years old, our songs have been sold
We've traveled around the world and we're still roaming
Soon we'll be thirty years oldI'm still learning about life
My woman brought children for me
So I can sing them all my songs
And I can tell them stories
Most of my boys are with me
Some are still out seeking glory
And some I had to leave behind
My brother I'm still sorrySoon I'll be sixty years old, my daddy got sixty-one
Remember life and then your life becomes a better one
I made a man so happy when I wrote a letter once
I hope my children come and visit, once or twice a monthSoon I'll be sixty years old, will I think the world is cold
Or will I have a lot of children who can warm me
Soon I'll be sixty years old
Soon I'll be sixty years old, will I think the world is cold
Or will I have a lot of children who can warm me
Soon I'll be sixty years oldOnce I was seven years old, my momma told me
Go make yourself some friends or you'll be lonely
Once I was seven years oldOnce I was seven years old
A tear falls from my eye and I hear a beep from behind me. I couldn't believe it! Tania videoed it all!
"That song precious to ya?" her words find their way into my heart. It stings like crazy. I nod.
"Yeah, Dad used to sing it to me all the time, before he, well..." She nods, we turn back to the horse. It's calmer than before.
"Since when did you know that songs calm horses?" she asks, I think for a second.
"We'll, just a hunch I guess?" she smiles. "Hey, can you go back to the Tower and call someone about this?" she nods and leaves. "Hey girl," I say to the Horse. "What's your name?" she looks up and something says Snowy. "Snowy?" I ask, Snowy nods. "Well, Snowy, nice to meet you. I'm Ruby, can you tell me how you got here?" I put my hand on her forehead and let my magic do the rest. I see fire, a boat, and a girl, just like me, running away from something. "Oh, I see girl." I rest my head on hers until the sun starts to set. I look around to see Harrison and another two men walk up to us.
"Ruby, this is Chris and Beardy." It's him! The man that saved me!
"Well hello again Chris." I smile, Harrison looks bewildered. I smile, "Chris is the one that saved me from, well..." I scratch the back of my head. "Who's Beardy?" I look at the man standing beside him.
"I'm a Lifeguard, you may not have seen me around 'cause I've been in Hawaii for the Winter." I smile, then point at Snowy.
"This is Snowy, she told me her name herself." The three men look bewildered. Whoops! They don't know I can understand animals.
"Uh, I named her myself." I think faster than my brain can put thoughts in. I stand up but Snowy struggles.
"I think you're gonna have to stay with her, Ruby." Chris looks at me, "there's a certain level of trust between you two already." I smile and sit back down, stroking Snowy's mane. This is one rescue I'll never forget.
OMG! Is that what you thought was going to happen? Ha! Gotcha!
