different // calum hood + hogwarts

1. arrival

elena carter stepped off of the hogwarts express and watched as her fellow students boarded the magical carriages, transporting them from the train to the castle.

as she looked for her two best friends, she was reminded of the happiness that her magical lifestyle brought her. elena was a halfblood— her mother being from the world of magic and her father being a muggle. when she first got her hogwarts letter, she was more than excited to study magic just like her mom. it was hard to leave her loving parents each year, but now, as she began her fourth year at the school of witchcraft and wizardry, she couldn't wait to see her friends again.

"elena!" she turned around and saw just the people she was looking for.

"ali! luke!" she squealed, running up to her  hufflepuff classmates. she gave the blonde haired girl, alison, a hug first.

"i missed you so much!" she laughed, rocking from side to side on her feet. elena met alison evans during her first year at hogwarts. they were both sorted into hufflepuff on the same day and found comfort in being new to the castle together whereas being on their own. they quickly became friends as repotting mandrakes in herbology class and practicing charms brought them closer.

"hey, what about me?" the blonde haired boy pouted, looking at elena.

"of course i missed you, luke." elena chuckled, giving him a hug and making him smile. luke hemmings met the girls on the hogwarts express on their first day, and has been friends with the two coolest girls on the planet in his opinion, ever since.

"let's hurry and get to the castle," he said, pulling away from elena. "i heard they have apple pie tonight!"

elena and alison laugh at their friend and follow him as he hops up into a carriage and pulls them to their second home, hogwarts castle.

as the three friends make their way into the castle, they hear other students screaming and running to the sides of the walkway. elena thought there had been an accident at first, but when she saw what all of the commotion was about, she was astounded. winged horses glided not so gracefully past the students and towards the entrance of hogwarts.

"well, there's something you don't see everyday!" fred weasley exclaims. before anyone could respond, a long pole emerges from the black lake. students marvel as a large ship reveals itself and starts sailing toward the castle.

"we just thought this year would be normal." luke sighs and walks inside.

"normal? at hogwarts? never." ali smiles up at luke, nudging his elbow, making him smile down at her sheepishly.

elena follows them as make their way to the great hall along with everyone else. taking a seat at the hufflepuff table, they greet their friends and wait for dumbledore to begin the feast.

"did you guys hear about harry and sirius last year? turns out they were related the whole time! i don't know what i'd do if that kind of crazy ran in my family." justin finch-fletchley, a fifth year says. elena quietly rolls her eyes at the boy sitting across from her. it was obvious that justin was still mad at harry for setting that snake on him three years ago.

"justin," cedric diggory, another fifth year, scolds him. cedric slaps his arm in disapproval.

"hey!" justin cries out, rubbing his arm. "that's my wand arm!"

"don't talk about harry like that. he's not as bad as you think." cedric tells him, looking over to the gryffindor table at the famous boy who lived. elena and alison turns their heads along with him to see harry talking to his group of friends.

"oh what i'd give to be hermione granger!" alison said in awe of the girl who was best friends with the harry potter himself. elena only laughed at the girl.

"sounds like you've been drinking love potion, ali." elena giggles, earning laughs from the others around them.

elena thought harry was very brave for everything he's done for the school since he arrived at hogwarts, but he wasn't her type. harry was sweet... too sweet. the young hufflepuff needed someone to challenge her. to show her what life is like away from the library and herbology class.

"now that we're all settled in and sorted," professor dumbledore announced, bringing her out of her thoughts. "i'd like to make an announcement. this castle will not only be your home this year, but home to some very special guests as well,"

dumbledore continues his speech, explaining that hogwarts has been chosen as the host for the triwizard tournament. an event which brings together three schools for a series of magical contests. one hogwarts student will be chosen to compete against one student from the durmstrang institute and one student of the beauxbatons academy.

the large doors to the great hall open, revealing girls in blue dresses and matching colored hats as they walk into the dining room. after making their entrance, they sit down and dumbledore brings in the other guests.

the doors open once again as boys dressed in dark colored clothes loudly enter the room. they bang their wooden walking sticks against the floor as they make their way to the front, their faces stiff and emotionless.

"oh no, i've heard of these guys," luke whispers to alison and elena. "they practice dark magic."

elena watches as the boys take their seats, one boy in particular catching her eye. he sits down and takes off his hat, revealing a full head of black curly hair. he bites his bottom lip as he sets his elbows up on the table, brings his hands together and rests his fine jawline on them.

looking around at everyone, he catches elena staring at him, making her blush softly and look away. the durmstrang student can't help but to raise a corner of his mouth up in a smirk. after admiring the hufflepuff girl now looking down with her brown hair covering her face, he looks to dumbledore who begins the feast.

elena looks back at the boy once he's turned away. "luke, who's that?" she asks, nodding in his direction.

luke swallowed his bite of apple pie and turned to find the boy elena was so curious about. "oh," he grunts.

"that's calum hood."

I love harry potter and especially my mans calum hood & reading all these stories made me wanted to write one of my own! so I hope you like it :) this takes place during the goblet of fire movie with the triwizard tournament, the trio & draco malfoy still being apart of the story. ashton,  michael & calum will be introduced soon so stay tuned ;)
