10. an official date

"calum, pay attention!"

elena laughs as she scolds the boy who wasn't listening to anything she was trying to teach him.

"sorry." the body blushes, lowering his wand and looking to the ground.

"it's okay, but why are you so distracted?" el laughs, sitting on the couch in the room of requirement.

"you," cal grins, sitting beside her. "you're so cute, how could I not be distracted?" his smile turns more into a smirk as he rests his hand on her thigh. el notices the touch and glances at his fingers as they softly squeezed her skin.

"why don't we take a break then?" she suggests, moving his hand off of her leg and swinging her other leg over calum's. sitting in his lap, she cups his face and kisses him deeply, taking advantage of the empty room they were in. calum kisses her lips, running his hands up and down her back. he was slightly surprised at el's boldness, but happy she feels comfortable enough to do this with him. his feelings were definitely growing for the little puff, his heart swelling as he thinks about his love for her. coming to this intense realization, he quickly pulls away from elena and looks at her.

"what?" she asks, resting her hands on his shoulders. "did I do something wrong?"

"no no, of course not. um," calum bites his lip, looking away and pondering over if he should tell her about his feelings. he finally regains eye contact and smiles softly. "let me take you on a date."

the corners of elena's mouth slowly turn up into a smile as she looks at the boy. "a date? didn't the yule ball already count as a date?"

"no, I mean an official date. like you get all dressed up, I take you somewhere away from the castle and we spend the day together." calum explains.

"that sounds like so much fun!" el replies, smiling widely. she places a quick peck on his lips. "you're so sweet, cal. sweeter than any honeyduke's treat!" she giggles, making him chuckle as well.

"that's one place we can go to on our date," he tells her. "and I'll buy you anything you want."

elena gasps and her eyes go wide at his promise. "you better not say that, I'll buy the whole store if you let me."

later that day, both elena and calum got ready for their date. she put on a cute mustard yellow sweater tucked into black jeans ripped at the knees and a pair of brown booties. letting her hair fall where it may, she takes a look in the mirror, smiles to herself, then leaves the hufflepuff dormitory.

calum was waiting for her in the hallway, his hands resting in his pockets. he had on a simple black t-shirt, black and white striped pants and his signature black leather jacket.

"woah," elena states, stopping in her tracks when she sees him. calum turns to face her at the sound of her voice. "you look hot." she says, giggling softly as she continues walking to her date.

"me? look at you!" he chuckles, taking her hand, lifting it up and spinning her in a circle. elena twirls and laughs, falling back into calum's chest. he places a sweet, soft kiss to her lips, holding her chin gently. the two smile widely when pulling away, incredibly happy. to everyone else, the two are obviously in love. they're just too afraid to confess their feelings to each other.

"ready?" calum asks, intertwining his fingers with hers. "very ready." elena replies as they walk down the corridors to the courtyard.

on their way out of the castle, they pass a few students who were going to breakfast or just studying. it was saturday, so not many people were out and about, but the ones that were made sure to take note of the hufflepuff and the durmstrang walking hand in hand. some still couldn't believe that elena would even associate with a dark arts student, much less be in a relationship with one. some students even took it upon themselves to steer clear from elena and calum, worried the two were planning something dark and dangerous for hogwarts. however, they're not letting mere assumptions, and wrong assumptions at that, discourage them. they're happy with each other, and that's what matters.
