A Mate: A ShikaNaru fanfic

Chapter 5

Nobody's P.O.V.
  Naruto stayed with his friends. Letting him and Shikamaru get to know eachother. Shino's feeling for Kiba only grew, and Choji still hasn't found a mate. But everyone, except Hinata of course, knew he had feelings for the Hyuga. And as for the other 3....well Naruto didn't want to associate with them, so he kept his distance.
  As time went on Naruto and his friends finally passed and graduated the shinobi school. Along with Sasuke, Ino, and Sakura of course, and they became the rookie 9. Iruka was beyond impressed with the group. Though he has some concerns with picking the teams.

Iruka's P.O.V.
  Naruto didn't get along well with Sasuke and Sakura, but his bold spirit and his incredible strength mixed with his will of fire, might be able to move those two in the right direction.
  However, if they crash and burn it'd be all my fault...mabey it'd be best if I put him with Shika. Then again....
Naruto's P.O.V.
  We were waiting for Iruka to announce the teams, and man was he taking for ever. I'm beginning to think he's doing it in purpose! Anywho I'd really like to have Shika in my team for...obvious reasons, but as long one of those three bozos aren't on my team, I mean one is tolerable, but any more then that and I'm done!
  I was talking to Shino when Kiba sat down on his lap and huffed at me.
  "What's wrong with you?" Shino smiled at his little pup.
  "Probley jealous~" He teased. I stuck out my toung.
  "Me and bug boy? Gross! Er...No offense"
  "None taken" Kiba blushes.
  "Wh- that's not it! I stubbed my toe outside!" Shino gives his a questioning look, but I shrug it off. I don't Shino....er well like that, but I would get jealous if I saw someone talk to my- I see Shikamaru talking to Ino in the distance.
  What the- I walk over to them with a smile, well more like run but whatever.
  "Hey guys! What 'cha doing?"
  "Well I was wondering if Iruka would put Shika, Choji, and I together".
  "Why would he do that?" I ask.
  "Our parents were in the same team". Shika replies.
  "Oh...well...okay.." I mean that sounds like something Iruka would do, but I don't have to be happy about it.
  "Naruto us something wrong?" Shika stood up and checked my forehead. I moved it away.
  "Well, I was hoping w-we would be on the same team..." I pouted. He blushed a deep red, and pyt his hand of his chest. Weird, is he okay?
  "My you're too innocent kit".
  "Oh shush!"
  "I want to be with you aswell..." I smiled.
  "Great! We should tell Iruka and mabey he'll-"
  "No, that's not what I meant Naruto..." Now I'm confused.
  "I want to be on your team, but I also-"
  "Everyone listen up!" Iruka came in the classroom ready to announce the teams. I really wished Iruka hadn't came in when he did, but nothing I can do now. Guess he'll have to tell me later.
