Chapter 29

The ship hasn't taken off yet so we still have a chance to get Optimus and Tessa out of there safely.

"Come on, Bee, it's descending. You got to get on it!" Cade shouted as I pass them

The only question that seemed to stick in my head besides the obvious ones of if they're ok, is why hasn't it left yet. Surely there is no other reason for it to be here still. As I thought that I saw a helicopter enter the entrance of the ship.

'Are they handing off something? Making a truce? What are they doing?' I think to myself speeding up

We stopped on a crowded bridge staring at the ship.

"We don't have much time," I say to the others as I stand in front of them looking at the ship

"Bee, come on" Cade shouts

"It's a bad idea. But I'm all about bad ideas." Hound said after I informed them of our plan

"You know, that explains a lot actually," I say looking at him with a slight smirk

"Let's go!" I shout being the first one to jump into the raising ship

We found an entrance down into the ship.

"This is crazy" Cade mumbled

"Trust me, we've done worse," I say looking down at them

"Look, you wanna cut and run, you better do it now. I'm gonna die trying." Cade said to Shane

"Hey, I'm not here to help you get your daughter. You're here to help me get my girlfriend" Shane said

"That's nice... now fucking jump already!" I shout as quietly as I can wanting to move this along so we wouldn't get caught

"We're behind enemy lines now. Lockdown's ship has booby traps. Eyes open." Hound ordered

"Beware of his bone grinders, brain blinders, flesh peelers, chromosomal inverters, catatonic sludge, black hole trapdoors, and, of course, radiation." Crosshairs said obviously trying both scare and inform Cade and Shane

"...So basically just be careful and don't be stupid" I whisper to them

"We must be quick. We have the element of surprise. Let's try to use violence as a last resort." Drift said before some tentacle creature reached out to grab him and he started slicing like a maniac making me to have to hold back laughter

"I kill you! Kill you!" Drift said stabbing it multiple times "I hate those things"

"That's freaky" Cade mumbles

"He's not alive anymore" Drift informs and I smirk deciding that I would get under his skin a little

".... so violence as a last resort, starting now?" I question with a smirk

"Shut up," Drift said in annoyance but I heard Bee chuckle a bit in the background

"Well, we looked. They're not here. Let's go." Crosshairs said obviously wanting to take Optimus' roll as leader but that pissed me off

"What? Hey, I'm not going anywhere without Tessa!" Cade shouted to Crosshairs

"I'm unclear. What's in it for me?" Crosshairs questioned jabbing his finger into Cade's chest so I sweep him off his feet and grab him by the neck while he is down in pure rage

"Easy let's use words" Crosshairs said as I hold him down

"What's in it for you is that I don't kill you. Optimus is our leader and Tessa is our friend. Optimus would save you if you were the one taken so you are going to save them, got it?" I growled at him not letting him up until he complies

"Alright alright. Very persuasive. Textbook machismo. I'm in." Crosshairs says

"Good," I say and toss his face away from me disgusted by his behavior

"Someone's in a bad mood" Crosshairs mumbled rubbing his neck cables

"I tell ya that femme may be small but she is fucking terrifying." Hound whispered to Drift

"We need to sabotage something." Crosshairs said looking around

"Better hurry. Because dark-matter drivers are preparing to take off." Drift informed

"I give us 10 minutes," I warn

"Is that what that sound is? The engines filling up?" Shane asked nervously "Are you telling me that thing's gonna be... This is gonna be flying out of here in 10 minutes?"

"Could be nine. Worst case, seven." Drift says trying to make it better but clearly not

"You two, search the cell blocks," I say

"We're wasting time let's go," Cade ordered Shane

"We'll find the center core," Hound said

"Let's move," I say taking lead

"We're gonna stop this nightmare ship." Crosshairs said before we split up
