Chapter 17

+ Arya pov

I woke up early the next day and walk out to the barn knowing Cade will most likely be in there with the new truck that he texted me about. As I'm walking out I see Lucas asking Tessa where Cade is.

"I don't know" Tessa answered from the window

"He's probably in the barn," I say walking towards the barn myself

When I get into the barn I'm quickly followed by an angry Tessa and a nervous Lucas.

"Dad!" Tessa shouts

"Oh shit, what did you do?" I ask sipping my beer

"Coming!" Cade shouts quickly running out of the barn so I decided to look at the truck he is working on

I take one glance at the truck and spit out the beer that was in my mouth. DAD! I think rushing up to him and see that he was badly injured and forced himself into offline.

"What happened to you?" I whisper

"Are you working with lasers? If so, I'm not coming in." Tessa shouted more than likely still walking up to the barn door

"You guys have never seen a truck like this before. Get in here. Lock that door." Cade said ushering Tessa into the barn

"It doesn't have a lock" Lucas countered closing the door

"Look! Look at the hole in the radiator. Look at the size of it. Something blew a hole in it!" Cade shouted excitedly

"Yeah, so," Lucas asked boredly

I grew nervous hoping Cade wasn't catching on to what my father actually was. I trust Cade but I don't really trust Tessa and especially don't trust Lucas.

"It's not normal steel. The strap net in the engine, it ripped all the connection apart. And watch. And this looks some Cade genius." Cade ranted "You are gonna love this."

Tessa and Lucas look very confused and concerned with Cade's ranting.

"When I hook this back up to a working battery..." Cade says putting jumper-cables on fathers battery charger and sparks going flying everywhere

"Calling all... calling all Autobots." Father's last message repeated making me look down sadly

"Yeah, I don't think it's a truck at all. I think we just found a Transformer." Cade said

"They're actually called Cybertronians" I correct making them look at me "What if you're going to say it say it correctly"

"Tran..." Lucas trailed off before running out of the barn with Tessa not far behind him "Evacuate!"

"Wait! Guys!" Cade shouted chasing after them

"Dad, are you out of your mind? You need to get that thing out of here." Tessa growled making me angry

"You don't have to worry. I've been in there working all night. I'm fine." Cade assured

"You know what? That's not a truck, okay? You're right. It's an alien killing machine." Lucas growled

"Dude, it's DOA," Cade said "It's been recalled. totaled, done." Cade shouted carelessly as I found myself on the verge of tears

"There's a number that you call." Lucas said holding up his phone "You're supposed to call the government. It's the American thing to do. We could win $25,000... and if you tag it then you get $100,000"

"Dad, we're making the call," Tessa said in awe

"I've seen the commercial. They don't say that. That's not a guarantee." Cade counters

"You think Greg would lie to me?" Lucas argued

"Look, if that's a Transformer there from the Battle of Chicago, I need to know it works. I'm an inventor. This could be a game-changer for me! If I can apply that technology to my inventions, we'd never have to worry about money again," Cade said making me storm back into the barn and start fixing up my father

'What is wrong with them, why are they so swayed by money that they can't see that we are living beings as well. We even saved their lives many times before.' I think as I angrily patch up the holes

After a while, Cade came back in to help me and Tessa followed behind him.

"Twenty-five grand! It pays for my college." Tessa said

"Does it pay for the life your handing off as well" I growl towards Tessa who steps back in shock, I've never been the one to get standoffish with them and cade looks at me

"It pays for the house." Tessa continues

"Besides, you used my money to buy the truck, right?" Lucas said "So technically, that's my truck. Don't you think?"

"You also signed a contract regarding all research lab I.P." Cade fixed

"Research lab? It's a barn, dude." Lucas said and Cade walked down towards him and he stepped away

"You signed it and now you're complaining. Ant idea of yours is mine. Any thought you have, I own it, so basically, I own you." Cade challenged backing Lucas to the wall

"I don't think you can own someone," Lucas said

"What do you think slavery is?" I question rolling my eyes

"Ok but that war was, like, a while ago, even in Texas," Lucas said

"Alright bring the torch over and help me with the pulley arm." Cade demanded "I think the strap net lookout is its' power core. And Tessa, you see this?"

Cade asks taking a hammer and banging on Optimus' chasis multiple times before turning back to her.

"Would an alien killing machine let me do that? Look, I'll make the call. We'll get the money. Just first let me see if I'm right. You want to hide in the house?" Cade asked Tessa who nodded rapidly "Go ahead"

"Let's go pulley arm," Cade told Lucas and walked up the steps

"You're not really going to make the call, are you?" I ask pleadingly

"I don't know, we need the money," Cade said

"I'll get a third job just please don't call them" I beg and he nods hesitantly
