"Believe in the things inside you.

 All the moons,
all the suns,
all the winds and all the fires.

They all move when you move.
Everything unfolds and shifts
with the rise of your chest."

Dan Andrews had never been more uncomfortable in his own skin than he did in that very moment.

His collar felt tighter than ever before.

It had been that way for months, ever since a certain brunette entered his life.

He felt like it was a noose, tightening every moment his business succeeded and that it was only a matter of time before the breath had left him.

Dan had never been a dishonest man.

He hadn't been the brightest in his class, but he managed to get by on his own merit.

He had always been soft-spoken and shy.

It was clear that he wasn't the most eligible person to be a businessman, but with the connections he had in the city, he managed to progress with his work.

People in the city knew him and for the most part, like him for being an honest, respectable, well-mannered man.

He usually liked himself, too.

At that moment, however, he hadn't loathed himself more.

He looked down at the report in his hand, reading over the figures again and again, trying to see if his eyes were deceiving him. He wanted his eyes to be deceiving him.

The numbers on the pages made his insides twist, knot and turn in the most uncomfortable manner possible.

The buzzing of his phone interrupted him from his thoughts. He lifted the it to read the notification.

Terrence Burke: Heard the numbers are good. This is paying off.

Dan suddenly had the undying urge to throw up into his wastepaper basket.

Picking up the report on his desk again, he flipped through it, hoping that something may have changed.

His numbers had gone up.

Ever since Scarlett had given him and Terrence information about the first project they managed to get from Ace, his numbers had been rising. Slowly, but still rising.

He had overtaken his numbers from the previous month.

In fact, it had been one of the best quarters that his company had ever had.

It made Dan feel physically ill.

He took a deep breath, wondering if he would really go through with the idea in his mind.
