As the waves crashed against the sand, I looked around. From where I was laying, with Nya, we could watch the boys do... Well, whatever they were doing. Cole and Lloyd were tossing a ball to one another, and Zane, Kai, and Jay were in the water. It seemed like they were testing how long one another could stay under, although, Zane won, of course. I closed my eyes as the sun lulled me off into a light sleep.

I opened my eyes to see Jay standing above me, looking down, saltwater dripping from his brown locks. "Get up, y/n! You'll burn," he said, in a slightly concerned voice. I felt my cheeks flush, his sea blue eyes looking into mine.

"Okay, okay!" I said, in a playful voice, reaching out my hand. As he grabbed me and pulled me up almost effortlessly, I looked up at him. He smiled his soft, slightly silly smile. I realized we were still holding hands, and started running towards the water.

"I'll beat you!" I yelled back at him, my h/c hair getting in my eyes. As we reached the cool, salty water, I let go of his hands and ran further into the water, where the tall waves crashed against my short figure.

He ran up to me, and suddenly, our eyes met. It felt as though I was swimming in his eyes - not the actual ocean. I stood there, my cheeks burning hot. At that moment a large wave crashed against us, snapping me out of the moment. I felt myself being lifted out of the water, Jay holding me up so I wouldn't get swept away. I let out a surprised yelp, that quickly became laughter, as he carefully plopped me down into the water.

"What just happened-" Jay said, in between deep laughs. Suddenly, without thinking, I reach up and grab his face gently, and kiss his salty lips, feeling every positive emotion I could name as he kissed back, putting his arms around my waist as we stood in the salty sea. As both pulled away at the same time, faces flushed, I took his hands into mine.

"I... I really like you, Jay," I breathed, scared that he wouldn't feel the same way. A smile took over his face as he blushed even deeper.

"I like you, too, y/n," he whispered. He bent down, putting one arm around my waist, the other still holding my hand, as he kissed me with passion, nervousness and excitement causing butterflies in my stomach.

Little to our knowledge, the other ninja had stopped in their footsteps, jaws dropped, as they watched this unfold. In the distance, we heard Cole and Kai yell "YES!", congratulating Jay. With the sun still shining, and Jay's hand in mine, I left a different person than I had been when I had arrived.
