I walked into the kitchen, looking down at my knee high socks as I carried my skates in. One of Sensei Wu's training exercises was skating, for balance, and I liked it so much I had continued to skate. I put my skates down by the other shoes, and sat down at the island. Zane walked in, waving at me as he went over to the oven, pulling multiple cakes out.

"What kind are they? What frosting are you going to use?" I excitedly asked the blonde haired boy, while smiling. I loved baking, and I always wanted to decorate cakes, but forced myself to wait until the other ninja had a birthday. Zane always wanted to help, and with his informed movements, it always made it easier and more enjoyable.

"It's red velvet," he said with a vibrant smile. "With cream cheese frosting.. Your favorite."

"You remembered..." I breathed, blushing deeply, happy that he had remembered - even though he was a nindroid, he had selective memory, and he chose to remember what I had told him on a cool, rainy night that felt so long ago. Even back then, I had loved him, and his aquamarine eyes. Over time, I had gotten close to him, spending time talking with him almost every night.

I shook myself back to focusing on reality as I watched Zane start to make his frosting. As he put the cream cheese into the mixer bowl, I connected my phone to the bluetooth speaker in the kitchen, playing one of my favorite old songs. 'Put Your Head on My Shoulder' plays as I stand up, walking over to the boy I wanted so desperately to love me back.

"I need to talk to you," I squeaked, tapping his shoulder. He turned around, as I looked him over. He was wearing a blue and white hoodie and black jeans. He smiled warmly.

"What is it?" He asked in his smooth voice.

"The thing is - I've liked you for all this time. I've imagined our life together.. We could move in together and get a dog - a border collie. And make cakes together," I blurted out, just as the lyric "tell me that you love me too" played softly in the background. His eyes got wide, while my heart felt like it would jump out of my chest.

"I like you, too, (y/n), and I have all this time.."

"Will you be my Darling?" Zane murmured, as I nodded so hard I felt as though my head would fall off, warm tears filling my eyes.

He put his soft hand on my lower back, and lovingly held my hand with his free hand as we slowly swayed around the kitchen, matching one another's movements. I felt as if I was at home, or even better, in heaven. As the sweet song ended, he gently lifted my chin with one finger. As he leant in, our lips met as he softly, yet firmly kissed me.
