I sent a beaming smile Cole's way as he and the rest of the ninja burst into my house, each carrying a small bag. Or, not so small in Kai's case - it must be the hair products. They sat their bags down in my living room as we all sat down and started talking.

Hours passed and after a good 6 pizzas had been eaten by the group and two scary movies had been watched, with the occasional screech from Jay or myself. We laughed through the movies, pointing out the things that probably should've been scary. We played truth or dare and went on a walk around my small, quiet neighborhood at 2am, our laughter traveling down the street.

When we got back, we all separated into smaller groups. Jay and Nya slept on an air mattress I had blown up for them, Jay's arms wrapped around her waist. Kai, Lloyd, and Zane watched youtube videos on Lloyd's old macbook, trying to muffle their laughter.

I took the cushions off of the couch and laid them on the floor, tossing my blanket on there, too. Collapsing onto the makeshift bed, I let out a tired sigh of relief. Cole, who had stuck close to me the whole night, stretched out on the floor next to me. He put his earbuds in and scrolled through tiktok. I tried to keep my eyes open, but succumbed to the sweet call of sleep.

Cole looked over at me as I let out a small cry, watching me shake as I slept, silent tears running down my cheeks as the unknown terrors of my dream held me in their grasp. He got up from where he had been laying and cautiously climbed onto my small little bed. He wrapped his arms gently around as he settled down behind me, his warmth softening my tense muscles.

As the soft morning light poured through the windows of my living room, I opened my blurry eyes. I couldn't remember where I was - and why I was so comfortably warm. The air around me smelled like the smell of fresh grass and mountain air. I drifted back off into a light sleep. The sound of Lloyd giggling and the sound of a phone camera awoke me again, and I stared at him, confused.

Suddenly, the comforting warmth behind me moved. And.. it clicked. Cole was the warmth, and oh my god, we just got caught. I looked up into his mischievous brown eyes, rolling my eyes as my cheeks flushed with happy embarrassment.
