Brianna's POV:

I paced back and forth around my room. Tonight was homecoming night; which was also the night of my first date ever with Jeremy. But I still had that iffy feeling ever since my nightmares reappeared. I mean, it might be a sign. A sign telling me that if I get too close to someone, I might end up hurting them and myself.

I still had my sweatpants and t-shirt on with only three minutes to spare until Haley arrived to pick me up. Was I going to do this or not? This was the only thought in my mind at the moment.

'Ugh. It's not that hard Brianna. Just put that dress on and I'm sure Haley will help you with everything else.' I thought.

'But what happens after this? Yeah you may end up with the guy, but you can be putting him into some serious harm.' I thought again.

"Brianna! Haley and Matthew are here!"

'Too late!'

I walked out of my room and headed downstairs. Once Haley and Matthew saw me, they looked confused.

"Brianna, are you trying make a homecoming fashion statement. Because if you are, I don't think it's going to work." Joked Haley.

"Yeah sweetheart. Where's that lovely dress you got?" My aunt added.

I ran to the living room were my book-bag was and took out my notebook and pen. Then I wrote down what I decided. Running back over to them, I handed it to my auntie.

"I don't think I should go." She read.

"What?! But Brianna you have to go. What about Jeremy?" Asked Haley.

I put my head down and grabbed my notebook; writing Haley what I wanted her to say to him. Then I handed it to her.

"Tell Jeremy that I can..."

I cut her off by placing one figure on my lips; signaling her to keep it to herself.

"Okay Brianna, I'll tell him. But I can't guarantee that he want be mad at you for this."

Sadly, that's a price I was willing to take. I nodded my head at her as she handed me back my notebook.

"Okay girly. I guess I'll see you at school on Monday."

And with that, Haley and Matthew headed out the door.

Jeremy's POV:

I was at homecoming waiting for Brianna to arrive with Haley. This would be my first date ever and I know that it was going to be amazing. I was so excited that I even went out and brought Brianna a bouquet of flowers. Carnations of course, since those were her favorite flowers. And also, I even wrote her a letter. Now all that's left to do is wait for my lovely date to arrive.

~ 10 minutes later ~

I was near the punch bowl, drinking until I probably needed to go to the bathroom. What was taking them so long? Did they have to touch up their makeup or something? Probably.

Max saw me drinking away and came over to talk to me.

"Umm Jeremy. I don't think you should be drinking all that punch."

"I can't help it Max. The suspense is killing me."

"Well if you keep drinking like that, I'm sure there won't be anymore suspense considering you'll be one big puddle"

I looked at him and laughed.

"Alright, alright. You win this round."

I threw away the cup and stood there talking to Max. Well that is, until I finally saw Haley and Matthew walk through the door. Sadly though, Brianna wasn't with them. I got worried. Where was she?

Haley started to approach me and I didn't waste any time asking her where my date was.

"Haley, where's Brianna? Did she get sick or something?"

She put her head down. I could tell this wasn't going to be good.

"Not exactly."

"Then what? Why isn't she here?"

"She...she decide that she didn't want to come."

"What?!"

"Now hold on Jeremy. She wanted me to tell you why."

"I don't really care why. She set me up. Ditched me. See, this is why I don't date. I just knew something like this would happen."

"Jeremy..."

"Don't stick up for her Haley. You know she should be here and not at home. Gosh! She's going back to her old habits."

"I know she is but just listen..."

"No I don't care. Thanks to this my night is ruined."

Walked off and headed out the gym. Then I ran to the building where I have first period. The door was surprisingly open, so I was able to get inside. From there, I knew what to do. I ran around the hallway, looking for Brianna's locker.
Once I found it, I stuffed the note in there.

"There. Now let's see how you feel about this."

I made sure to still keep the flowers cause I know I would need them later on. So, without looking back, I headed out the building.
