Jeremy's POV:
- Monday -
I couldn't wait to see Brianna today. Ever since the incident that happened Friday, I've been worried. I just keep remembering her screaming in her sleep. Obviously she was having a bad dream, but I wanted to know about what exactly.
I walked into my first period class and instantly went up to Brianna. Like always, she had her earphones in and her head down.
I gently tapped her. She didn't respond at first, so I simply kept on tapping her. After a while, her head roze so she could see me. And by the look on her face, she was pretty pissed. Probably from me annoying her with the tapping.
She got out her notebook, as usual, and wrote me her question.
'Why do you keep tapping me? Don't you think I get it?'
I went on with answering her question.
"Yeah. But you didn't put your head up when I tapped you the first time."
She rolled her eyes in annoyance and wrote what she had to say again.
'Ok. Now what do you want?'
I looked up at her, seriously. I decided to tell her what's been bugging me all weekend.
"Brianna. That afternoon you were at my house for the project, you sort of fell asleep. And when you did, you where screaming. I know it's probably none of my business, but what exactly where you dreaming about?"
She looked at me, as if I crossed the line. I guess it was personal. Just like the rest of her stuff.
She instantly started to write down what she felt. Then, she handed to me.
'That's personal Jeremy. I can't tell you ok. It's just... complicated. Just know that it's something I don't enjoy.'
I looked up at her after that last sentence. 'Something she doesn't enjoy.'
That made me even more curious now.
I handed her back her notebook and went to go sit in my seat. As I did, I couldn't help but think about what she wrote. It was like a record playing over and over again in my mind.
What did she mean by something she didn't enjoy? Did something happen to her that made her like this? Something that caused her to go completely silent? I just wanted to know.
Then it hit me. When it's lunch time, I'll go searching for Brianna's friend. Maybe she knows something.
- Lunch Time -
After the fourth period bell, I instantly started to search for Brianna's friend. I never really talked to her before, but right now, I was on a mission.
I finally caught her after a while, going to her locker. I went up to her and tapped her. When I did, she jumped a little.
She turned around and looked at me, surprised.
"Jeremy. You're the last person I would expect to talk to me. Anyways, what's up?"
"Well, I don't want much. I just need you to answer a question for me."
"Umm...ok?"
I paused for a moment, then spoke.
"Do you know why Brianna doesn't talk and just...blocks everyone from knowing how she feels?"
"Sorry, but I don't. She's never told me that. Ever. I guess it's personal."
Of course. Personal. You know, that word is starting to become my least favorite.
I said thanks and left. Great. Now what I'm I suppose to do? If her friend doesn't even know then I surely wasn't going to figure out. Ugh. I guess now I should go to lunch.
