"Hello??"

We both were looking at Ruhi with a clueless expression.

"Hello?? Who is this?? ", Ruhi sounded a little bit annoyed.

"JAB BAAT NHI KARNI TO CALL KYUN KAR RHE HO?? PAGAL HO KYA!!!!?????".

And then she  politely hunged up.

Poor landline...I am feeling bad for the poor thing.

"What happened yaar??", I asked her .

"Pta nhi kaun pagal hai !! Kl se call pe call kiye ja rha hai!! ".

"Badtamizi kar rha hai kya??", Nitya asked.

"Nhi yaar......yahi to baat hai!! Koi khuch bolta hi nhi ...."

"Kahin apka koi purana ashiq to nhi??", Nitya joked.

I chuckled and said", Listen abhi jab phir se vo call kare to meri baat kara dena. Main use line par le aungi. "

Suddenly Nitya's phone started ringing.

She looked at the caller ID and then looked at us.

"It's Nishu bhaiya guys!!", she was a little pissed off and went towards the balcony.

Me and Ruhi looked at each other and realized that we had that one  suspicious look on our face .

Anyways...

"Lets order pizza", Ruhi said.

"'Cool !! ", I said and started checking the notifications which popped on my mobile's screen.

I heard her clearing her throat. I looked at her and asked," what??"

"May I have your order please??", she asked like a professional waiter...

"One golden corn pizza- medium size", I answered with a little fake attitude...

She passed me a fake smile and I gave her a flying kiss. She cringed and concentrated on her smartphone.

I smiled and concentrated back on my mobile screen.

And then again I heard her clearing her throat.

Iska gala kharab hai ya dimag kharab hai??

"Abhi bataya na ek golden corn , medium size pizza", I said with my gazed fixed on my mobile phone.

She smacked my head ," Ouch!!!", I rubbed my head and glared at her," what's wrong with you??".

She ignored my glares and said,"I just wanted to know if you are okay??".

I looked at her in disbelief. I am friends with this specimen for like past 5 years but still I just can't understand her.

"Wah maate ye sahi hai. Ye to wahi ho gya ki puri Lanka mein aag lagakar Hanuman ji puch rahe hain ki meri puch ko aag kisne lagai".

Okay I admit that sometimes I behave like a 40 year old but I am actually good in comebacks and sarcasm.

She just shook her head and said," Nevermind!! ....Just tell me are you okay??".

"Okay with what???", I asked her.

"With this Nitin chapter??".

My initial reaction was a little shock. I was actually taken aback by this sudden question. I couldn't answer her and just lowered my eyes.

She put her hand on my shoulder and said," If you are not okay then please stop this story right here and right now. This thing is just playing with your feelings. Just ask Nitya to stop this story telling session man.".

"I know Ruhi you are very much concerned about me but trust me yaar, I won't let this thing affect me . Thodi bhout takleef to hogi , but tum khudh dekho yaar, Nitya is getting back to normal...".

"I don't know yaar", Ruhi was not convinced. "Main Nitya ka order lene ja rhi hoon", she also went towards the balcony.

I was all alone in the living ,when suddenly the landline ringed.

I picked up the receiver and pulled it near my ear and said," Hello??"

No answer.

My mind was already occupied with what Ruhi just said. I was actually not in a mood of scolding that unknown caller who was on the other side .

I was about to hung up when I heard someone inhaling sharp breath from the other side.

I pressed the receiver again near and my ear and asked, in a bare whisper," Who is this??".

Again , no answer. Just a little heavy breathing.

It sounded so familiar.

My heart nearly stopped beating when I realized who it was.

It's him. I know.

Mujhe uski ek-ek baat abhi tak yaad hai. Main uski saans se hi use pehchan sakti hoon.

I could feel those long lost emotions again occupying my heart.

My vision got blurred and a pool of fresh tears started rolling down from my eyes, running down my cheeks.

Like a bare whisper, I chocked out ,"Nitin??"

I again heard someone inhaling sharply and then after what felt like eternity I heard a familiar and weak voice of a man saying," Varsha...".

My name sounds so good .

His voice was heavy. Was he crying??

We both were silent. That silence was saying thousands of unsaid things.

I wanted him to say something. After all he is the one who called first. But instead of a reply I just heard the beep sound of disconnecting a call.

"Kisse baat kar rhi ho Varsha??", Ruhi asked me as she entered the living room, followed by Nitya. They both occupied their places and meanwhile I wiped my tears, without them noticing.

"Kisi se nhi yaar", I managed to said that.

"Kahin wahi bejuban caller to nhi tha?", Nitya asked and I simply nodded my head in yes.

She was about to say something when I confidently said," Don't worry, vo ab dobara call nhi karega"..

That's for sure...
