Beep, beep, beep, beep......ugh it's too early. My hand blindly reaches across my bed to silence the alarm. School starts in an hour and a half, maybe I can snooze for ten more minutes, I think being the procrastinator I am.As I'm about to set my alarm mom yells, "Clair wake up. We are going to have a nice breakfast be down in half an hour."
I groan into my pillow. Knowing mom will come up here I don't start getting ready, I reluctantly pull myself off of my silky purple sheets. My feet walk me over to my makeup cluttered vanity. I begin to apply my makeup and then move to tame my waves of brunet hair.
I pull my school uniform out form my closet. God I hate this uniform I think as I take in the cliché plaid skirt, white button up shirt with the school emblem, and those stupid knee socks. At least we get to wear whatever shoes we want to.
I grab my white converses, and slide them onto my feet. I love these shoes. After many attempts of Mom trying to throw them away, but she finally realized it wasn't going to happen. They have little tears on the sides, and are completely worn out, but they are so comfortable. Before I leave to go down stairs, I grab my backpack off of the floor, and unplug my phone from the charger.
I trudge down stairs into the kitchen. The smell hits me as soon as I enter. Mom, Dad, and Ryan are all setting on barstools at the island, in the middle of the kitchen. The stove holds eggs, bacon, and toast. Something must be going on, Mom never cooks like this in the morning.
"Good morning Honey," Mom says whilst smiling, "how are you?"
"Oh I'm great! So what's all this for?" I say with the fakest smile plastered on my lips. I grab a plate and fill it with food. I pull out the barstool beside Ryan, and sit.
"I'm so glad you asked," she says, "if you remember last week I told you about this benefit for a local charity. Some of the girls were wondering if you would speak at it. I told them you would. The speech is already written, all you have to do is speak."
I spoon a couple eggs into my mouth. This is what I was waiting for. My Father clears his throat, prompting me to agree to this. "If you do this you'll no longer be grounded." He promises.
This is an business deal, disguised as a family breakfast. It's not I have a real choice in the matter. Mom will just keep asking until I give her the answer she wants. This is what is expected of the politician's daughter. "Okay, but can I leave as soon as the speech is over?" I already have to do this, the last thing I want to do is have to stay there and put on the perfect daughter show.
"Yes, the speech will be near the beginning so you won't have to be there that long." Mom says. You would think her face is about to break her smile is so big.
"It's a deal then. I'll look at everything when I get home." I grab my bag and head towards the door.
"Honey wait. There's one more thing, you have to bring a date. Now I know this will probably anger you but the girls in the committee think it would be a good idea to have Justin as your date."
"No." The words come out of mouth as soon as she mentioned Justin. What the hell? "I will not bring Justin."
"Do you have another date in mind Honey?"
Who could I bring with me? Justin was always my date for things like this. If I asked Audrey, she would probably say to just take him. It's either him or one of his friends. Scratch that none of his friends, they are all douchebags. I mentally try to picture all the boys at my school. Right about now would be a good time for a new kid.
I could slap myself right now. Cole. He's new, very nice, and let's not forget totally gorgeous. "Yeah, I can ask this new kid. His name is Cole. I'll let you know what he says when I get home."
"Alright Honey. Make sure you tell this boy the dress code." Appearance is everything, Mom always says. Wouldn't want to bring anyone who would stand out.
"I will, by Mom." I turn on my heel and make a bee line for the door. School starts at 8:30, so I have about thirty minutes before school even starts. Maybe I'll stop for some coffee.
To Audrey:
I'm going 2 stop 4 coffee. Want some?
It takes about two minutes for her to respond. I laugh silently to myself while reading over her message.
To Clair:
OMG YES!!! Can you get me a donut 2? Thx babe ;)
She never ceases to amaze me. She's my blond, I'm her brunette. She's not stupid like the ridiculous sayings about blonds though. Instead she is really smart, and hates cheerleaders. I think that's why I like her so much. Audrey does have the looks of a typical blond though. She has perfect sun kissed skin, and emerald green eyes. It's funny how she is so pretty but is so self-conscious. No one really knows that about her though because when she walk through the halls at school she holds her head up high, and doesn't shy away from peoples stares. She welcomes them.
I pull into this little diner that Audrey and I love. I walk through the door and welcome the smell of coffee, and sweets. I order two medium coffees, one apple cruller for me, and a sprinkle donut for Audrey. I quickly pay and leave.
I open my cruller from the little box, and eat while going down the road. My mouth waters at the taste. The perfect mix of apple, cinnamon, and glaze. My cruller is gone in seconds, leaving me with sticky fingers, and a shirt covered in delicious crumbs.
As I approach school, I instantly feel the dread to go in. Expensive cars line the student parking lot. Pods of people stand around talking. I drive towards my spot in the back beside of Audrey's Corvette, but it is taken. My eyes go wide when I see the car. The sun's rays make the black paint gleam, and makes the car seem even more perfect.
I quickly park my car, eager to get out to look at the vintage 1968 Dodge Charger. Before I can even think about getting out, I'm paralyzed. Not only is the car perfect, the driver is too.
A tap on my window brings me back to reality. Audrey is standing beside my car with the biggest grin. "Are you just going to sit there, or are you going to get out and interrogate the guy about the car?"
This girl knows me too well. I step fully out of the car, and begin to walk to car of all cars. A stupid grin breaks onto my face when I see who the jaw dropping driver is. Black hair that pulls of the messy hair look, tall, broad shoulders, and gorgeous ice blue eyes. His face breaks into a smirk.
"Hello Clair."
