"You know someone as young as you shouldn't be out walking alone!" A voice behind me exclaimed. I ignored it and kept walking. "Hey where you going?" The person caught up in no time and grabbed me by the throat and rammed my back against the wall of the alley way. "You know it's rude to ignore someone when they're talking to you!" He gripped my throat tighter.

"Please, let me go," I cried.

"No," the light from the lamp post caught his features, his face was contorted into some kind of monster.

"What are you?" I squeaked trying to push him away, but it was futile.

"Your worst nightmare," he wrenched my head to the side, searing pain consumed me. He supported the other side of my neck with his hand. I squealed till he rested his hand over my mouth.

"Hey buddy that's not how you kiss a girl," a voice said. He stopped, wrenched his fangs out of my neck, I whimpered and he dropped me to the ground I hit it with a thud.

"This does not concern you," he growled stalking closer to the figure. I clamped a hand over my neck, but like crimson lace blood dribbled through my fingers.

"Now we can do this the easy way or the hard way!" The stranger exclaimed snapping a piece of wood off a rotted crate. The figure charged the stranger, my head fell against the side of the bin. Minute by minute, second by second it became hard to keep awake. I dipped in and out of conscious, I watched the two men fight till one exploded into dust and the stranger knelt in front of me.

"Hey, can you hear me?" He asked, all words failed me as my head fell and my eyes closed.

They opened and I sprang up, I placed a hand on my head it thumped. I was laid on a couch in front of a fire place, its sweet smell of squealing burning logs filled my nostrils. "Hey, hey take it easy you're still weak," the stranger said racing towards me.

"G...get away from me," I stuttered.

"I'm not going to hurt you, I rescued you," he said.

"W...where am I?" I asked panicking as I looked around at my surroundings.

"My home, I couldn't just leave you in the street you deserve more than that Cassandra," he said.

"H...how do you know my name?" My eyes narrowed.

"You work at the diner, Buddies don't you? You're new in town aren't you?" He asked.

"Y...yes," I replied.

"What if I said I could change your life would you believe me?" He asked kneeling in front of me.

"C...change my life?" I asked sitting forward.

"To get revenge on the creatures of the night who did this to you?" he asked.

"What are you?" I asked trying to stand, my gaze had settled on the weapons over his shoulder.

"A hunter. I kill the things like what attacked you tonight," he said. "I keep humanity safe."
